Courtyard - So detailed voxel modelling is actually pretty cool? The Global Game Jam’s juuust over a week away, so my partner and were discussing what art styles would be doable. He mentioned voxel modelling and I was all... nah I’m not a big fan of that blocky Minecraft style. Googled it. OH WHOA you can basically make pixel art in 3D? Oh. Okay. Sign me up!
I lost my first proper attempt when the app I was using crashed (;_; my beautiful library, it had a fireplace and everything), so this is my second attempt.
I’m using Goxel for the modelling, then rendering in MagikaVoxel. This one took around 8 hours, so maybe a littttle ambitious for GGJ, but I’d love to use a style like this for a game one day.
Here is the Brr Brr Patapim as a cubic voxel model!
Made the Tung Tung Sahur as a Voxel model
the original test sprite I made for this voxel experiment
it's mostly just a fun little exercise in rendering 3D voxels in a 2D space
could probably be used for creating and streamlining 2D sprites that need multiple angles.. and it scales easily too
the original voxel sprite was made with goxel and then rendered in gm:s 1.4
