That Jesus is the true vine is irrefutable.

Grace Works

The thing I love about grace is not only its ability to get you to the next point but also its ability to get you through the current one. 

You're probably thinking, duh, if God's grace can get you to it can definitely get you through it. However, as obvious as that statement is I don't think a lot of people knew that. If you did, then great! But if you didn't don't be too bummed, the present is always the perfect time to learn from the past. 

I think over the course our lives we've become accustomed to looking forward to for the next big moment and in doing so we end up scrutinizing and regretting our current situation as if it's a first draft on some essay. 

"Lord, if you can just get me through to the next thing..."

"I messed this up but can you help me be better next time?" 

"God, help me to last so I can make it to another day."

or even,

"Give me the strength to endure what I'm doing."

They are all good and valid but why don't we leave room for God to show off a little? Don't wait for another chance to come along when He can make the best out of the one you're in. Ask Him to make this time not only bearable but enjoyable. Seek out His help to make this season, this day, this moment the most awesome yet. Then you can see for yourself how He shows up in every way you could have never imagined.

I heard a wise Christian exhorting a new believer who was disappointed in his attempts to live sinless. He had recommitted his life to raise the standards of righteous behavior. "So, you lied, stole, cheated, cursed, got drunk, etc. That is what dissatisfied people do. What's new? Now you are going to change that behavior by adding shame to your dissatisfaction with the hope that enough shame will motivate you to stop? Really?" Sin-conscious living is self-defeating. If you succeed in lowering the sin meter, you are proud of your achievement, distracting you from the sufficiency of Christ. If you fail, you are depressed at your inability to live up to even your own standards. Why focus on your behavior when you can focus on Jesus' behavior?

Church Series: Grace Works and Prison Break

Last Sunday, we started our new Sunday Service series entitled: Grace Works. Pastor Arnold talked about God's grace and how it is sufficient, no matter what our circumstances may be. It was an inspiring message, it taught me that no amount of religious works (tithing, praying, helping at church, etc.) can get us closer to God except by His grace. It also taught me that Christianity isn't about rules and regulations, it was about relationship. If it inspired me, I'm sure it would do the same for you. So, if you're in Cabanatuan, you could drop by our church this Sunday for the continuation of our series.  9:30 am for the English Service and 4:30 pm for the Tagalog Service, at our Victory Center, 3rd Flr. Insular Life Building, Rizal St., Cabanatuan City (across Plaza Lucero). ______________________________________________________________________________

Also, this Friday is the second part of our Youth series entitled, Prison Break. It talks about the prisons we have in our lives and how we could be set free from them. The Youth Service starts at 5:30 pm, at our Victory Center. See you there!
