You’re sitting at home on a Friday night with a book you just got from the library when your friend texts you and asks you to go to her school’s play. Happy to have something to do, you agree and say you’ll meet her there in 20 minutes. You arrive at her school in a pretty light blue dress that you’ve been waiting to wear and find your friend waiting inside with tickets. She bought the tickets a while ago so your seats are in the center of the second row. You take your seats just as the lights start to dim, signaling the start of the show. The curtain rises slowly and you are amazed at the beautiful scenery built to set the mood for Romeo and Juliet. You catch on to the language pretty quickly and you’re enjoying teh show but when Romeo makes his entrance you can’t help but be a little stunned. You’ve never seen another guy who looks like him, with longish dark hair and icy blue-green eyes. He delivers his lines so perfectly and really makes you feel like you’re watching a forbidden love story. Every once in a while, you catch him looking back at you from the stage and it feels like he’s sharing his love with you instead of the actress playing Juliet. At intermission, you lean over and ask your friend, “Who is Romeo? And why haven’t I seen him before?” She laughs and says, “His name is Louis, he’s an exchange student from London. Isn’t he gorgeous?” You giggle and nod in agreement because he truly is beautiful. You sit through the rest of the show and enjoy every moment of it, thanks to Louis. After the play, your friend decides to sneak backstage so she can see her friends who were also in the play. You go with her and out of the corner of your eye, you catch a glimpse of the leading man. You decide to be bold, a quality you don’t usually possess, and you walk over to him. “Hey! I really loved the play, it was incredible. Would you mind autographing my program?” He smiles and you notice the crinkles around his eyes as he says, “Thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed it. Who should I sign it to?” You reply, “My name is Grace.” He looks down at the program and you see him mouthing g-r-a-c-e and he writes something else that you can’t see before he signs his name. “I hope to see you again, Grace.” he hands back your program and winks before disappearing behind another curtain in the back. You blush as you look down at your program and see that Louis wrote his phone number and a message, “For Grace, maybe you could be my real Juliet. -Louis.”
