When I reunited with my car after college, I realized I had a painfully inadequate selection of driving music. And while sometimes a car is for anthemic 80’s rock that you can’t help but sing along to but most of the time, I just want something with a mid-tempo, dreamy feel and a definite beat to keep me awake as the streetlights flash by.
Late Night Driving on Songza is a great mix of various styles of electronica that have in common a synthy base, acoustic accents, few lyrics, and pleasantly pulsating beats. The artists are largely obscure, with a few notable exceptions - Passion Pit, the Books, Radiohead, and Crystal Castles make appearances.
Not a driver? This playlist is also recommended for long, introspective bus rides, solo video game sessions, and any other activity requiring musical accompaniment that drives you forward with sleek, sexy, occasionally melancholic beats.
