after being reassured, for a long time, that lucifer was still safely locked back in the cage, and having dean calm him down, sam had gone back to bed. the panic attack had drained him of all energy, and he just wanted to sleep the day away. unforunately, the one place lucifer could still get to him was in his nightmares. every nightmare, for years now, centred around him. other people sometimes showed up. dean, jess, gen. never with good things to say. but lucifer was on his mind, so it wasn’t surprising that his nightmare largely involved him. it was terrifying, it was brutal, but it was something sam had become used to when he slept. his breathing came in soft gasps, as the blankets across him become tangled between his legs from his tossing and turning. when he could feel that gen was in the bed beside, he unconsciously stopped himself from being so active, but on his own, it was a different story.
