Gracie Gold.
Gracie gold has been my favourite skater for as long as I can remember, I first saw her on tv when she performed in the 2014 Olympic games, and I immediately fell in love with her skating. The way she moved and interpreted the music was magical and watching her inspired me to push myself within the sport and keep on attempting to improve.
Gold currently has the highest short program score ever received by an American lady 76.43. which was achieved in the 2016 World Championships and is also the first and only American woman to win an NHK Trophy title. (An international, senior-level figure skating competition) Known for her incredibly fast spins and powerful jumps Gold has only recently resumed working on her triple Axel and quadruple Salchow as her career was side-tracked by mental illness shortly after one of her most captivating performances ‘Firebird’. Due to this, she entered a therapy clinic in Arizona to help fight against depression, anxiety and an eating disorder.
Many thought Golds competitive skating career was over but has recently made a huge comeback by qualifying for the 2020 Nationals after placing 3rd in the Eastern sectionals and I could not be happier to see my favourite skater back on the ice.
