this is my favorite date for a couple of reasons and i just need to express them because i’m lowkey so overwhelmed. 

-daniel ringing the doorball. okay BLESS, MANNERS. this is something that has ALWAYS thrown me off and i’ve never liked how they just sat in their cars and never texted or attempted to open the door. idk why maybe the american chivalry in me jumped lmao 

-daniel taking grace to something HE KNOWS she would like to do, rather than just taking her to a random skyscaper. there’s thought behind the date and he’s attempting to make it something enjoyable

-william and his remakes instantly start talking about themselves to fill the silence, but daniel does the complete opposite. he instantly starts asking grace about HER passion (i.e. the paper) and expressing interest in something she actually would WANT to talk about. he’s genuinely trying to get to know her and hear more about her interests, which gives their relationship more depth (imo) and makes sense why she WOULD like him

-her telling him off. every single part of it. it was something so important because she really did a step by step for everyone watching. IN ADDITION, the way she speaks when she talks about these things is a CLEAR foreshadow to her past experience. i REALLY appreciate this because as the storyline progresses, this type of foreshadowing is going to do it justice. you aren’t going to feel like all this stuff is being thrown at grace and we never knew the character, we’re gonna feel like she FINALLY makes sense. (since we’ve seen OG, we can see those breadcrumbs but for someone like my sister, it’s gonna be interesting)

-DANIEL APOLOGIZING AND TELLING GRACE “I HEAR YOU.” First of all, a round of fucking applause. a William character apologizing? PROGRESS, period. in addition to that, him saying “i hear you” is so damn important. women often feel so misunderstood and misheard, especially when it comes to topics like sex, pregnancy prevention, etc. 

-grace questioning daniel on why he likes her if she’s been a dick to him and daniel calling grace out on liking him. it just needed to be done. 

overall, i loved it.
