Question all fellow obsessive fandom friends and strangers - does anyone else find it really triggering when they read a fic where there’s unintentional bad parenting, not bad like abusive because if that’s the case you can tell the narrative exepects you to be against them, i mean more like when it feels like narratively your supposed to agree with them. I’m referencing xreader and xOC ones but this could relate to any. I personally am not 100% sure i want kids anyway but i can still really enjoy a good fic with kids in and have no problems with it. However, when the kid for example does something slightly wrong or naughty but does not receive help in understanding why it’s wrong maybe getting a natural healthy consequences (if they are old enough to obvs) and instead the parents or parent just brush it off and say don’t worry because they find them too cute i get so triggered. Idk why?? maybe because i know that though it’s never okay to be shouting and harsh to kids and u should never shame them for their mistakes, not helping them understand when they do make mistakes is equelly harmful. It’s how you create entitled and nasty behaviour and in the long run turns into adults who don’t know when to admit they are wrong and who believe they are above others. It also is especially damaging with siblings as it often enables siblings being harmful, usually resulting in one targeting another constantly because the parents preach “that’s just how they are” “they don’t mean it, they’re your siblings” “you can’t stay mad, you’re siblings and will always love eachother “. Maybe it’s not that deep and Idk maybe i am projecting but i would be genuinely curious to hear if anyone has any thoughts on this even though no one will probs see this post
