6.5.15 Graduation. Class of 2015!
Congratulations on your gorgeous grade 8 graduation dress. You look beautiful. Was. Pleasure helping you say YES to the dress. #Canada #Toronto #Mississauga #grad #grade8 #grad👗 #grad2015 #grad2016 #graddress #gradgown #gradgirl (at Toronto, Ontario)
Since this is my favorite picture on the face of this earth, I figure here is a good place to put it. Being able to graduate with my absolute best friend on this entire planet was one of the coolest things I’ve ever gotten to do. Jessica and I grew super close in high school, and somedays I can’t believe she still puts up with all my quirks, random and sometimes really personal author-y questions, absolutely crazy life schedule, and absolute craziness in general. I quite honestly have no idea what I would do without her- she is the first person I go to if I need anything at all, and I’m 100% sure she will continue to be that person forever. Whenever anyone says best friend, I think of her. It’s like we are sisters. She’s the Paul McCartney to my John Lennon (pre-Beatles breakup of course)
We met in our grade ten math class. Being the kind of awkward person I can be sometimes, I had absolutely no idea how to start a conversation with the new kid that was sitting next to me, and now, I’m so thankful that she did start a conversation. “Hey. I like your ring.” Those were her first words to me. It was a Silpada ring that my mom had gotten for me for Christmas. So I told her that. She had heard of Silpada before, and we started talking about it. Suddenly, we were best friends and were never seen without each other.
Now the story behind the pose in the picture comes from that meeting story. I wanted to get her a meaningful grad present that would have a bunch of memories for her, as an extra super thank you for how amazing she is. When I thought about it, I decided to get her a ring- the same ring she told me she loved so much. So I scoured the internet (I wanted us each to have one), only to find that they didn’t sell them anymore. No matter. I called up my Silpada friend, only to find out that she didn’t have any either. Then, I turned to the internet. A lot of painful searching to find the right ring size and a month and a half’s delivery time lead to the ring appearing on my doorstep. When I told my mother what I was doing, she laughed. “are you proposing?” That’s where the picture came from. We skipped awkward prom photos and went straight to grad photos.
I also really like this picture because it reminds me of a great time in my life. I was surrounded by my best friends, dressed up all fancy and feeling distinctly princess-like (the dress helped that a lot), at the legislature, which is absolutely gorgeous, graduating from high school, and knowing that I got to embark on a university journey soon afterward. It was a fantastic days, pretty high up on the best days of my life. And even though Jessica is going to a different university, we do our best to get together every weekend and talk every night, and basically spend as much time together as possible even though we are apart.
Basically, I’m using this choice post as a Jessica-Appreciation post. Jessica, thank you for everything you do for me. I hope I’m half the friend to you that you are to me, and that you know I’m always here for you. You’re thebomb.com darling <3
