The older that we get, the more we are becoming conscious to the things that are happening around us. We are curious beings that it is natural for us to explore new things in which sometimes, can incite an overwhelming emotions and feelings. Most of the time that we face difficult situations and we don't know how to respond to it. As we enter adolescence, the responsible 'us' is slowly unfolding. We gradually become more mature in how we see life, how to solve problems and becoming rational, not easily influenced by the strong emotions we sometimes experience that can either have positive or negative effect in making sound decision.We may not notice it but in our everyday lives, we develop and improve ourselves unconsciously. We observe and learn from other people in order for us to have a wise decision in life. We have always wanted ourselves to develop, to improve,to become healthy mentally,physically,spiritually,emotionally, to live life in harmony.

Today, i wasn’t able to join the class but i did read the powerpoints. I learned that psychological well being refers to individuals emotional health and overall functioning. It has two approaches of well being which is Hedonic, it is about increasing pleasure and minimizing pain while Eudaimonic is all about finding your purpose in life. So, the two important ingredients in psychological well being are the subjective happy feelings brought on by something we enjoy and the feeling that what we are doing with our lives has some meaning and purpose. It can also be affected when a person has some negative experiences on his/her everyday life. I also learned the factors that can affect your mental health and one of it is the bullying, it has two components and 3 types. It affect the mental health and well being of children and youth. Bullied are more likely to experience depression, anxiety and sometimes long-term damage to self-esteem. There is no direct correlation between bullying and suicide, which is usually not due to a single source of trauma. But bullying can contribute to the intense feelings of helplessness and hopelessness involved in suicidal behaviors. Victims or perpetrators who experience continued, frequent bullying are at greater risk for suicidal behavior. It is traumatic for everyone and yes it’s important to address it to someone as early as possible. Always remember that you are not alone and talking to someone about bullying is the first step towards resolving the situation.

“Encountering stress as a part of adolescence”

Friday, 22 January

Today I’ve learned that stress can be from everywhere depending on how the person deals with a certain situation. It is an everyday thing everyone has to deal with no matter who she or he might be. It has different ways depending on how we react on it either good or bad it depends on you. I learned that stress has a short term and long term. If you’ve been stressed out for a short period, you may start to notice some physical signs like headache, difficulty sleeping and concentrating. When stress becomes long term and is not properly addressed, it can lead to more serious health condition like depression. Stress is also a significant problem of teens nowadays and it has different situations such as schools and family issues. Lastly, stress can help you rise to meet new challenges and also help you to be a stronger and better person. But there are also some strategies to overcome stress like meditating, talk it out, laugh, rest and manage your time.

"Ways to making myself a much happier person"

In this day I was really interested on our lesson for our lesson really affects me almost every time. I always think bad things and imagine bad things happening inside my head. And our lesson was about stress, this lesson was really good for me because I need to know how to control or get rid of stress, stress has been a really big challenge for me because it makes me overthink things like I can't do certain stuff and that I can't achieve what I want. Stress blocks my thinking so much that sometimes I can't do anything good or productive. But in the lesson I learned about a different type of stress, positive stress. I never knew that positive stress was even a thing because I thought that stress is stress and nothing more. But now I learned that stress can help me become a better person, for when I overcome or surpass these stress I would actually feel good about myself. And I also found ways to lessen and get rid of stress in my system. Some examples are meditation, reading books, letting things that are bothering you out, and also laughing. These are just some of what I learned today.
