I’m back from Lisbon! Never expected to have so much fun at something that’s called an academic conference. Huge thanks to Pedro Soares Neves for organizing the event and to Javier Abarca for inviting me there, that was a really pleasant unexpected surprise.
As promised, I just reopened my online shop! You can get the second edition of the graffitips fanzine, now with a riso printed cover and slightly brighter pages for better legibility. (see photo)
And since I finally found a satisfying way to ship these riso cathedral posters I made a while ago, they’re finally up there too!
With each order you’ll get a free screen printed postcard! It’s a remake of the « trahison des images » (« betrayal of the pictures ») painting from Magritte. I’m usually not into copying someone else’s work but I really like the point he made about how we tend to confuse representation of objects with the objects they represent since this applies really well to my opinion on “graffiti” canvases, prints and such: once you strip graffiti of its performative, ephemeral and contextual aspects, all you have left is a picture, that usually doesn’t signify much beyond its decorative value. I know this point has been made thousands of times before but I still think it still needs to be said.
One last thing, the full PDF of the zine is free to download again here! Link expires in a week.
XoXo y’all
