Today marks a month since Chadwick’s passing and it feels like I’m finally finding the words to say what I needed to say a month ago. I’ve paid my respects and honoured him as much as I could this past month, and I’ll continue to forever but I think we need to have a real conversation about healing.

The first week after his death was so terrifying - I found out when I woke up in the middle of the night and checked my phone. And I couldn’t shake the feeling for the next few nights that I would wake up and lose somebody else I cherished. This year brought an overwhelming amount of grief and Chadwick’s death was the straw that broke the camels back.

This pandemic has been one of the most scariest and uncertain times of my life and there’s so many days where I just felt like I had nothing left to give to this world. And in a really unusual way, Chadwick’s death brought me a lot of ease.

I read a @kumkaniudaku post months ago about humanising celebrities and I started making that effort with Chadwick. Despite his incredible talents, he’s just a man. A man who deserves his privacy and respect and I made a conscious effort to step away from the gossip blogs and articles. And it allowed me to see Chadwick in a whole new light - a man who just wanted to do good for his community. And I wish he was here so I could tell him he did exactly that.

I feel so at peace now (yes, I know I said this last month and procceded to have a full on meltdown the next day) but I really am this time. I’m so happy I got to experience him and his art. I’m getting back to doing the things I love (new fic soon👀). But even with this new found peace, I haven’t figured everything out yet. I don’t know when I’ll be ready to write for Chadwick again or watch his movies but I’m taking it day by day.

Consider this a check in post - How are you doing my loves? If you’re not doing great, there’s no shame in that. My dms are always open if you need a shoulder to lean on.

Welcome to my new blog!💞

I used to be @adoremilaje and I just wasn’t feeling it. I took a short break from a lot of things and now I’m back.

I’m applying for a job, getting my grades back on track and starting therapy tomorrow. Let’s get this bread.

And whilst taking this short break I discovered who I wanted to be as a writer. Mostly from reading incredible works from @justanotherloveaffair and so many others of you on here and also just practicing. And this discovery has helped so much. I’ve always struggled with getting what I want in my head down or saying it out loud. I have all these amazing ideas and words and thoughts that I’ve always struggled to express but I’m praying things are going to be different now.

And I’ve also been inspired by @eerythingisshaka fictober, where she posts fire ass fics every single day this month. So I’m going to try post a fic every week. I don’t have the time for every day but definitely every week!

I’m wishing you guys blessings on blessings💞 (especially if you’re black, sorry I don’t make the rules).

And let me put you onto some fire ass black panther writers before I wrap this up.
