CHINESE 🇨🇳 // Celebrated an early birthday dinner at Grand Orient, Perth CBD and ordered the following: - Half Peking Duck 2 courses $45; add another San Choy Bao for $5 - Avocado & Scallop fried rice $28 - HK Steamed tooth fish $46 - Braised prawn with yee fu noodles $42 - Chinese style beef fillet with special sauce $32 The dishes of the night were the Peking duck and avocado & scallop fried rice. Yee fu noodles were soft & soggy and the sauce of the Chinese style beef fillet was quite sweet. Beef fillet was really soft and the meat seems to be tenderised. Didn’t think that edible flowers should be on the noodle or beef dishes - seems more style than substance here. Ambiance and interiors are lovely but personally would only recommend the Peking duck and avocado fried rice here. #GrandOrient #TheMelbourneHotel #Chinese #PerthChinese #PekingDuck #PerthPekingDuck #AvocadoFriedRice #Toothfish #PerthFoodReview #PFR_GrandOrient (at Grand Orient) https://www.instagram.com/p/CVMFT8WB_gE/?utm_medium=tumblr

Peking Duck (half): second of two courses; aud45 plus aud15 (larger serve of noodles) from Grand Orient, The Melbourne Hotel. Menu on @perthfoodmenu To be honest, I wasn’t expecting the noodles to be deep fried. Our server did not inform us of the type of noodles and I had just assumed it to be E-Fu noodles. The noodles were very crispy and there was only a bit of gravy hence it felt a bit like we were eating Mamee (noodle snack). I love that the duck was tender and not overcooked. #GrandOrient #TheMelbourneHotel #PekingDuck #duck #deepfriednoodles #chinese #noodles #crispy #cantonese #perthfoodreview (at The Melbourne Hotel)
Peking Duck (half): first of two courses; aud45 from Grand Orient, The Melbourne Hotel. Add aud10/15 (larger serve of noodles) to have the second course served with noodles. Otherwise, you can choose from duck san choy bao (lettuce cups) or duck fried rice at no additional cost. Menu on @perthfoodmenu First course of the Peking Duck is always the crispy skin. Here at the Grand Orient, the duck skin comes wrapped with the pancake, spring onions, cucumber, hoisin sauce and surprisingly - fried beancurd skin. The duck was really fatty here and the skin came with quite a bit of fat - would have preferred the skin to have sliced more thinly to exclude the fat. @grandorientperth @themelbournehotel #GrandOrient #TheMelbourneHotel #PekingDuck #duck #pancake #chinese #perthfoodvideo #perthfoodreview (at The Melbourne Hotel)
