Revisiting the Pictish hillfort Castle Dubh, Grandtully Trail
Inspiration! After 10 days of limited to non internet or phone access I present to u all my record of the wonderful experience and opportunity I had, learning from the great engravers @malcolm_appleby_engraving @angus_mcfadyen in Grandtully and the British hand engravers association, teaching this fine art! Of course I started with a very complicated design, before I tested the water 😉 #grandtully #engraverssymposium #engraving #jewellery #thehandengraversassociation #malcolmappleby #angusmcfayden #moss (at Grandtully)
So my first project was a bit of a mess 😂 so I've been set the task of practicing fine lines and found inspiration in this #dandelion #makeawish 😯💨🌻💫 Learning from the great engravers @malcolm_appleby_engraving @angus_mcfadyen in Grandtully and the British hand engravers association, teaching this fine art! St.Mary's Church , Grandtully by Wallace Shackleton Via Flickr: The beautiful painted ceiling above the altar
There’s record of a church at ‘Carantuli’ in about 1250, though the existing St Mary’s Church probably dates from about 1533. After the Reformation of 1560, the church was modified to make it fit for reformed worship.
The modification of the church included its magnificent 1600s painted ceiling. It shows saints, proverbs, angels and, at the very centre, death itself.
