「シマウマの縞模様の役割は？」
シマウマは人間の目から見れば白黒の縞模様で、サバンナの中では目立っているように見えるかもしれません。かつてシマウマの縞模様の役割について、サバンナでのカムフラージュや、群れで動くことで肉食獣の目をくらませ狙いを定めにくくするといった様々な説が挙げられていましたが、最近の研究である事実が発覚しました。それは病気を媒介する吸血バエを寄せ付けないということです。
