He laughed softly before nodding slightly going to join R on the couch before taking out his phone scrolling threw some things as he cocked his head a little “ looks like there is a few things going on in France with the others, we might be getting a call from the rest of the amis soon” he said with a laugh “ so what movie do you want to watch?”
Enjolras looked around the small flat that him and his now husband shared as he took a small breath in slowly his bright blue hues danced as he could hear R in the studio that they had created for him, he had been proud of the man, for selling as many pieces that he had over the past few months. a small smile played on his lips for a moment as he ran a hand threw his now dark curls something he was still in a way getting used to sure he had thought about going back to his natural Blonde color but with the idea that the Patron-Minette were still out there and wanting his blood he decided that it was safer for him.
the thing that he had not fully told R was the nightmares had not stopped, the times that he would jolt up in bed his hair matted to the back of his neck with sweat, breathing like he had just run a mile…as he could still hear the rally that they were at, the sound of the gunshot…he could still hear the screams as he had passed out from the blood loss, the last thing that he seen was R coming for him as the darkness floated all around him.
he took a few breaths in slowly as he tried to snap out of the memory as he was nudged on his hand by his dog Romeo…before looking up to the door as he noticed R standing there with a Clear worried look on his face. Enj lowered his head a little before muttering softly.
“ I can still hear it like it was just happening…”
“ so finally able to get out of the hospital today, get to actually see what the outside world looks like the only bad thing, is other then pt and other things for what happened to us, we dont know where home is...we dont know where we are going at this moment...we just know that we are going somewhere”
White noise in my mind Won't calm down You're all I think about
Running on the music And night highs But
when the light's out
It's me and you now, now' Cause there's still
too long to the weekend
Too long till I drown in your hands Too long
since I've been a fool,
oh, yeah Leave this blue neighborhood Never
knew loving could hurt
this good, And it drives me wild 'Cause when
you look like that I've never
ever wanted to be so bad,
It drives me wild
Independent Youtuber Au for Enjolras, Grantaire and Combeferre From Victor Hugo’s Les Miserables
Combeferre was hitting his last hour of work at the hospital. He never got many of these, which was sometimes a good thing meaning he still had time to go home and catch up on some sleep, but every once in awhile, a twenty four hour shift or longer would come up and he’d push through it. This week however was an exception, and not of a good one. From a pile up car accident one day, to more then a few kids and teens having severe allergic reactions, to losing one of their oldest patients who was seriously sick, but was fighting back hard until he lost. Pull sixteen to twenty four hour shifts, Combeferre found himself running back and forth, from the ER to the OR, and sleeping in the linen rooms when he could.
He had been standing a the nurses station, his eyes burning as he squinted, trying to make out his own writing before pulling off his glasses and rubbing his eyes. He clenched his jaw, trying to fight back another yawn but failed as he let it out, hearing a soft chuckle from the desk. “You need a good amounts of sleep when you’re finally done here, sir.” One of the nurses said and Combeferre could only give a small smile. “You sound like my friends.” He said simply, his mind knowing that Enjolras and Grantaire were worried sick about him, especially with the way he’d been acting the last few days. It was nothing on them, but as much as he told them, he knew they wouldn’t go for it.
“Well your friends are smart ones.” The nurse said, giving him another smile and walked passed him, patting him on the shoulder. “You should listen to them.” She said before walking off. Ferre nodded at her before rubbing a hand down this face and putting his glasses back on and trying to focus on the charts in front of him. His next patient was a teen, in the midst of battling a tumor, and so far the results were on the good side. Taking a deep breathe, Ferre closed the chart and walked down the hall towards the patients room.
He was almost halfway there when an alarm went off, Ferre’s ears pricking up hearing the nurses yell out ‘Code Blue!’. Following them, he ran to the room where it was his next patient, seeing her seizing in her bed as nurses tried to hold her down through it all. Commotion went through the room, Ferre working as quick as he could, until her body lay still, the sound of a high toned beep filling the room before shouts and commands echoed off the wall from everyone. Putting his hands on the patients chest, he started resuscitation's, counting as he looked down at her motionless body, only moving by his movements. Sweat dripped down his forehead as he counted, before pulling his hands away, the nurse yelling out ‘Clear!’ then continuing. A few minutes passed, which seemed like hours to Combeferre before one of the nurses pulled him back forcefully stumbling as he stepped back. Silence filled the room, except the sound of the machines as he looked up at the clock and announced it.
He stayed in the room momentarily, his body shaking as emotions rolled through him and he turned around, walking away quickly. Keeping his face down, he went to the nearest closet, leaning against the wall. He swallowed the lump in his throat, trying to keep himself in check but that was no match as tears flowed down his face. Sliding down the wall, he buried his face into his knees and arms, shoulders shaking as sobs racked through him. This was one part of his job he hated the most, especially when it came to the kids. Moments passed, until Combeferre felt numb and stood up. He wiped his face, took a deep shaky breathe before opening the door and stepping outside. A couple nurses who were in the same room, gave him a small smile before putting their heads down and continued their work.
Looking around, he walked silently to the nurses station again, knowing that even through this hard time, he had to continue to his next patient. Taking the folder, Combeferre opened it and started to walk once more, trying to push past the thought of losing a patient on his watch and focus on the reading. His eyes scanned over the chart, furrowing his brows as he tried to make the words clear to him. Squinting his eyes, he opened them again knowing that right then it was a bad idea. The folder spun, and as Combeferre looked up, the room spun along with it. Stepping as he reached out, he felt himself stumble and fall, some shouts being heard in the distance before everything turned black.
