much ado about nothing and hogwarts houses ?
Oh my gosh, this is fantastic and I love it. I actually spent all morning thinking about it.
Okay so Beatrice is a Gryffindor*. She’s hardened and strong and always defending Hero, and witty as a defense point, and willing to fight. But she has a vulnerability that’s hidden by all of this, and that’s pretty common of a Gryffindor disposition. They tend to have trouble believing they are loved, and they’re loyal to a fault, and they fear things going wrong with love. They respond by combating, by opposing, by protecting that which they hold dear, and I think all of these apply to Beatrice.
Benedick is a Ravenclaw*. I feel like this is debatable, but I think Benedick values his wit. It’s not quite the weapon that Beatrice’s often is, it’s the point to begin with. Without his wit and his mind, I don’t think Benedick would be quite the same character. It’s also precisely what draws him to Beatrice. He seeks a kind of intellectual companionship, and is often dissatisfied by other people who don’t match him there, hence his regular leading-on of others, his competitive air and tendency to battles of wit.
*They both have outward shells, sharp resolves, and excellent minds, and I think ultimately, Beatrice is a slightly Ravenclaw-ish Gryffindor, and Benedick is a slightly Gryffindor-ish Ravenclaw, and they both complement and class on these grounds.
Don Pedro is a Slytherin. He has a desire to lead, he sees things as means to an end. He woos Hero for Claudio himself in a mask, because he does crave a hand in good things happening, he sees his perceived good ends as justifying his slightly dishonest means. Again, he’s perfectly well-intentioned most of the time, but there’s a certain degree of entitlement, control, and slipperiness to him that makes him not a necessarily straightforward sort of ruler. And again, this isn’t me hating on Don Pedro or Slytherins, I like both. He works to create, and bring back happiness in the story, through the same means of cleverness and molding of the situation. Again, he’s the epitome of a slightly shifty, but ultimately well-meaning Slytherin to me.
Hero is a Hufflepuff. Hero is the very picture of earnestness, kindness, and loyalty. She’s true to people she loves, she takes no dishonest means to any ends, even when she has been wronged and slighted and her life is in ruins. She has done nothing wrong, and continues to do nothing wrong. She speaks up, once she’s learned that people will still wrong her, even though she is innocent, and in fact does not, in the end, passively tolerate her own defamation, as it is in fact wrong. Hero is a Puff precisely for these reasons of honesty that does not equate to being a wet blanket, and an essential earnest goodness with no guile.
Don John is a Slytherin. Like his brother, he manipulates circumstances to favor him. There’s nothing wrong in that neutral action, and it’s what makes Pedro a powerful ruler, and it’s not, ultimately, harmful in his brother’s case, as his desires benefit everybody. Don John has that same tendency. Change the circumstances, leave little trace, make the world favor what he wants. He’s entitled, too, really, except the difference between him and his brother is that Pedro gets the things he wants, generally, so he has little to envy. John has got quite a lot to envy and every bit of wit and power and desire to gain it, and that’s why he’s nearly an effective villain. He just happens not to ultimately succeed, and to have nastier, more self-driven motives than others.
Claudio is a Hufflepuff. Claudio, like Hero, is a very earnest, emotional person, who believes in things at face value, who throws himself into his desires and tasks deeply, and has intense emotions for that reason. Claudio, however, doesn’t have half of Hero’s maturity. He believes what he’s told--call it good faith, when he’s told unlikely good things, call it naivete when he instantly believes Hero has been false to him. He’s not hiding anything, and he acts in full belief that whatever his motives are hold full truth, and he does nothing halfway. That’s part of the Hufflepuff ethic, really, and in Claudio it produces kind of a childlike asshole, whereas in Hero it produces a true and loving heroine of strong conviction. They’re of the same house, but not terribly similar beyond a certain lack of ever doing anything halfway, and being quite emotional people.
hey Emma do you have any suggestions for a very unorganized person who wants to try the bullet journal system ?

If you find that it’s not working you could always try different types of planners like weekly or monthly ones, I found these easier as I’m really forgetful.
