Imagine teasing your lover Grappling Hook for their accent and sayings.
They were a Redcliff Wrangler—a cowboy, technically, which meant there were a few things they would say that would make you snicker.
For starters, they often say "tarnation." You had gone on plenty of supply retrievals to hear them say it whenever they notice that something is off, and each time you have to hold back a laugh because of how serious they sound when they say it.
And then there's "fixin' to." That one is the most common, and you love teasing them about it because of how much they say it. You'll ask when they're going to head out to do something and instead of saying about to or going to, they say they're "fixin' to."
You'll always tease by repeating their words, and each time they'll flick their hat up so that you can clearly see their face. They'll narrow their eyes with a smirk while you laugh, and you'll hear them mumble as you walk away.
They also say "that dog won't hunt." While they mostly use it during meetings with the other Wranglers, it's still funny to hear them say it, and they can tell you're trying to keep a straight face during the meeting.
Now, while you do tease them about it, you aren't doing it out of mockery. You love their accent, and they know that a little too well.
"Are you going to bed soon?"
At your question, Grappling Hook looked up from the supplies they were counting, and they lowly hummed. "Fixin' too..."
"Fixin' too." The tease in your tone earned a chuckle from them, and they started to slowly walk over to you.
You were standing in the opening of the supply tent, but you fully stepped inside to meet Grappling Hook as he stood in front of you.
"Yer makin' fun of me?"
"Would you believe me if I said no?"
"Darlin', I'll believe whatever you want me to."
The tent fell into silence as you watched them lift a hand to hold your jaw, and you smiled at them before speaking. "Darlin'—"
Your teasing was cut off by them pressing their lips against yours.
