THE SOVEREIGN SLAYER IS A TRANSGENDER WOMAN: CHARACTER ANALYSIS
(Writers note: I will be using she/her and refer to all her iterations as SS for the entire article.)
From creation, she is given one name and one role.
The Jack. The third in command, the Knave, as to say the Man. It is her only reason of existence. She despises it, despite the power she has. All she wants to do is leave it. She's treated like dirt by everyone but her three actual friends. The moment she gets the chance, she does absolutely everything to be free from this imprisoning role, and they follow supporting her the whole way. Of course, the game is aware of this. The players are supposed to use her to take advantage of this fact. She is to be used and thrown away. Make sure to never let her get the ring. Never give her the Queen's ring. Let her be exiled and hid from the world. Rebuild the planet and never be acknowledged. Speaking of the ring,
The Ring
The ring is a tool that gives the Queen her power. It is to be used by the Queen and no one else. Only the Queen must wear it. To wear it must mean you are the Queen. (See: Black Queen, White Queen, Prospitian Monarch) It is all the Slayer wants, but she in particular is denied being seen as a Queen by everyone.
There is also the tool the Kings have access to. The scepter is almost completely ignored by the Slayer and quite literally discarded.
Her Name
Carapacian names can change by word, but their acronym stays the same (WV, AR, WQ, BQ, PM, etc). To change the acronym is a big decision akin to Humans or Trolls changing their names at all.
After A2's SS (colloquially known as Spades Slick) was exiled, she changed her acronym from JN to SS. She was shown compassion and any sort of kindness from her failed assassination target, Karkat. She's the example of what a correct session entails for her fate, and shows that this isn't a one-off from one session's SS.
After B1's SS obtains the ring and rises to the rank of Queen, she sheds her acronym of JN to claim what she wanted, SS. Despite this, everyone with the exception of her close compatriots use this name. She's referred to by everyone else via her deadname, scathing insults, or both.
The other iterations of her don't even get the chance of this freedom.
The Outfits
Despite being treated as a boy by the queen, she's treated as nothing but a joke. Her identity doesn't matter in the scheme of Derse's plan other than an agent, so anything she wants or could have is thrown out the window. The outfits are just to add more of a scathing aspect to it all. She doesn't even get to choose what clothes she likes to wear. This was her breaking point.
Compare to this moment, where she's free and can choose her own look. She might not have liked what she had to work with in the end, but she had fun with it in her own time, and had the choice to stop wearing it! Her freedom is like a breath of fresh air! Of course, we can't talk about SS without bringing up
She Kills A Lot Of People
Being completely free and with a LOT of pent up anger, she takes it out on multiple universes worth of inhabitants. She hates this universe for sticking her in a little box and making her stay in it, and this is her chance to get back at it. Not a good choice, but it was hers. She is so mad she can't even figure out why she is mad.
