An interactive art installation by Seiko Mikami and Sota Ichikawa called Gravicells, allows visitors to “feel gravity.” Special devices and sensors can notice visitors of this piece, which then allows them to “feel gravity they are seldom aware of, resistance to it, and the effects caused by other participants. As explained on the YCAM website, “this work provides a space with hypothetical dynamics having the opposing forces of gravity and resistance, through special devices and sensors.” It is very interactive in the sense that all movements by the visitors are altered into “movements of sound, lights and geometric images through the sensors. This piece has been around the world, which started at YCAM, June Yamaguchi Center for Arts and Media in Japan and has been to eight countries. It was also altered and was then shone in 2010 at the YCAM also.
