Possible Gravity Falls AU proposal: Lost Pine Tree AU?
Inspired by a weird fanfic I found from DA, I came up with a weird yet somewhat interesting outline.
I'm warning, people. It can be downright scary.
Pacifica wakes up as usual but finds a worn journal she didn't remember having. She couldn't get any ideas about two authors: an unknown one who wrote it and a boy called Dipper Pines. She found it somehow familiar but had no idea what it was, so she moved on in order not to be distracted by it.
Then, something strange happened - She was more prone to exploring obscure things than usual. Finding out a girl named Mabel who was mourning her sudden loss of her twin brother amplified this weird feeling as well, as she didn't recall her but somehow felt familiar and she mentioned her brother as Dipper Pines, a boy who partly wrote a journal she had!
Despite of Mabel being a poor living in a filthy shack in forest means it would end up offending parents, Pacifica decided to help her and track where Dipper is, borrowing her a journal to help the matter.
They were shocked when puzzles were slowly gathere...
Dipper suddenly got lost when he visited the Northwest Mansion, and a part of Pacifica's newly incorporated traits were shared with him. Back in mansion, she also found his hair with an odor feeling similar to one from the journal.
She began to suspect that...he was supposed to be erased from existence by some kind of the force, but it ended up only managing a partial success?? Like, is there some kind of godlike entity or powerful magic that can manipulate the reality???
And, there is the point where the whole story goes downright scary, at the point of sounding vaguely like when cosmic horror and murder mystery has a baby.
Oh wait, based on NMM, I got one way to explain it.
Offended by Dipper Pines, Preston Northwest decided to let his grunge take the control and decided to erase him from existence by 'some kind of dark magic' stored underground once Dipper left the mansion after saving everyone's grace. But it only affected Dipper and Pacifica, which means he couldn't manipulate others like Mabel and Stan, who were desperate with the sudden loss of him without any explainable measures.
How does the dark magic work? I think Bill Cipher is an easy way to get away with, and it's turned out that Bill had limits in his capabilities and fused Dipper with Pacifica because it was the best thing he could afford under his then-current circumstances. Even as a cosmic entity who seems capable of anything else, you can see how compromise he was when he made a debut in Dreamscaparers.
Let's say he killed Dipper after possessing Preston, throwing his dead body into the Bottomless Pit to make it impossible to get back, and sealed Dipper's spirit in mindscape underneath Pacifica's consciousness.
In the end, Mabel ends up exploring Pacifica's mindscape, possibly bringing Stan as well, in order to find Dipper's ghost or something inside her.
I'm not planning to develop this into a more detailed, more complicated Gravity Falls alternative universe like many others do. If you expected me to do more of this, I'm sorry to deliver that.
But that means it's up to yours to take notes and develop this into your own stories. I certainly welcome any further developments to be made 🫡
Feel free to adapt, everyone!
Couldn't bill have just stretched his arm and grabbed the memory of the code after mabel shot it? Plus shouldn't he know that the bottomless hole isn't really bottomless and just waited for it to come up again? I think he was just messing around and testing their knowledge. He fuckin would. I can't stop theorizing. Help me.
