FULL NAME: Mason “Dipper” Pines BASED ON: Dipper (Gravity Falls) FACE CLAIM: Devon Bostick PRONOUNS: He/him BIRTHDAY: August 29, 1997 CURRENT STATUS: Taken
Character Information
Dipper summoned a demon when he was twelve years old and it possessed him.
Yeah, you read that right.
It was the first summer he and his twin sister, Mabel, went to visit their Grunkle Stan in Gravity Falls, Oregon—a Magick-friendly town known for being particularly eccentric, even among Magick-friendly towns. Smaller than most MFTs and definitely less governed, Gravity Falls prided itself on being weird, strange, and, of course, totally bizarre.
Dipper summoned a demon because he had found a journal left by an unnamed demonologist in his Grunkle’s attic and he and Mabel spent the whole summer trying to figure out what was in there.
Turns out, the demon was all too eager to trade some knowledge.
Dipper summoned a demon because Dipper wanted to know more. He always had to know more, didn’t he? He read every scrap of paper he got, read every bit of information about Magicks and when that wasn’t enough, he read every bit and piece he could about the Underworld, and when that wasn’t enough, he started reading about demons.
Dipper summoned a full-fledged demon and he thought he could handle it.
Dipper summoned a demon and he got possessed by that demon and it was only because of his other great-uncle (who was trapped in the Underworld with said demon, who was the demonologist who had written the journal in the first place) that he survived and the demon—a powerful Grade-5 demon who went by the name of Bill Cipher, whose real name was unspeakable—was banished back to the Underworld.
Dipper summoned a demon and then got on national news and when he went back to California, everyone knew about the Pines boy who meddled in things he should not have. He became the poster boy for anti-Magicks—look what these things can do to your kids, they warned. Look what can happen. He became a warning sign for Magick-Elites too—look what happens when Mundus meddle in our affairs, we are vengeful. Stay in your lane.
The good news was that the hype died down before Dipper went to high school and he spent his teenage years just being a completely average kid—nothing special. Sure there were people who remembered the whole stint on TV and how his face was slapped on pamphlets handed out by religious zealots and haughty sorcerers alike, but for the most part, he played it off like a totally whacko moment and just enjoyed cruising through high school.
That is, except, for night time, when he would hear a little whisper in the back of his head, a whisper that told him wonderful things—wonderful, but terrible things.
Dipper was attending UC Berkley for a year when all of a sudden, the little whisper grew louder. It grew stronger and it stopped whispering just at night. It would tell him things in the daytime, things as he walked to class. It told him of a town in England—Swynlake. It told him of a cave. It told him of Gates, of demons already walking the earth, of a chance for power, for knowledge, for everything he dreamed of…
Telling him exactly the place he needs to go to get rid of it after nearly ten years.
He needs it gone. He wants it gone. Wants that voice out of his head.
<<Does he though, does he really? Don’t you like it, Dipper?>>
So with a little explanation to his parents about how he wanted to change majors to follow in his Uncle Ford’s footsteps and the best program for that was PrideU—he transferred schools and starts this fall, majoring in Demonology.
