HAPPY PRIDE ❤️🔥🤍🩷🩵🤎🖤❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
Much like I will not pretend that TOS is somehow gayer than any of the Berman era shows no matter how much you tell me Spirk is totally canon, I will not pretend DS9 is somehow gayer than modern trek that has gay characters played by real gay actors, who are allowed to be queer in more than one episode, who don’t need the step removed of being an alternate universe version of a main character to be queer, or to have been in a straight relationship with their queer love interest in a previous life. Plus, real trans people exist in modern Star Trek. Not just allegorical worms.
I LOVE DS9, I love Rejoined, I love the mirror universe episodes and the mirror versions of the cast, I love the Trill, I love love love Jadzia and Lenara and Intendant Kira and prime Ezri and Mirror Ezri and Mirror Leeta, and yes all the subtext queerness as well.
But I’m not going to pretend it’s somehow better than where we are now.
I mean, it is better than SNW season 3 but that’s an outlier.
A queer he/they black guy plays a sensitive gay Klingon on the current main Star Trek show. We had a Trill character played by an actual trans person who was both trans and a Trill. A pansexual black woman was the main character of a whole show. Thats amazing.
I love our classics, but we need to live in the now.
