howl already apologized. isn't that enough for you? have you ever thought by keeping this blog up you're actually making the problem worse by dragging more people into it? and in the process of doing so you're silencing trans people who don't find howl's content offensive. if you find something offensive you can always block and blacklist howl and go about your day. and i'm shocked you haven't noticed the double standard- you can turn off anon for us but you won't come off anon yourself... hmm..
Like I have already said, our response(s) to the apologies are being formulated because we need to make sure we cover everything and because multiple people are involved, but to be short: no, it isn’t enough. Howl’s apologies were lacking in regards to certain concerns and failed to address others altogether; Further discussion is required to make sure he really gets why those things were wrong. There are also reasons to believe that his apology was not sincere and that he is merely rushing to preserve his reputation, which will be expanded upon soon.
We are not dragging ANYONE in to anything. Other people who have been hurt by howl can choose to come forward on this blog, but those who have not been affected have no business here EVEN if they agree with us. The purpose of this blog is to make known Howl’s offenses, explain with evidence WHY the things he has done are problematic, and get him to realize that he needs to make changes where he has failed to when approached by a singular person. The only people making problems worse are apologists like you who are sticking their noses in to business that does not concern them.
We are not “silencing trans people who don’t find howl’s content offensive.” If anything, Howl was the one silencing trans people who did find their content offensive by using sarcasm and acting as though they could do no wrong in their writing simply because they are trans. Those who do not find howl’s content offensive are free to express that opinion in their own space, just as we are free to express the fact that Howl’s content IS problematic. We have reiterated time and time again that trans people can be just as ignorant and transphobic as cis people. You cannot zero in on the people who are not offended by ____phobic practice and use them as an argument when THE HURT VICTIMS take priority. For god knows what reason, when people are BEING HURT by something you apologists still take priority over people who just don’t happen to find xyz offensive and dismiss victims speaking up as “drama” or worse, “sjw nonsense”.That said, Howl HAS come forward with apologies and acknowledgements and has privately asked for advice on how to improve his writing of trans people so as to avoid making the same mistakes. Once again, you’re sticking your nose where it does not belong, this is between the victims and Howl and you have NO idea what goes on behind closed doors and no authority to speak on any of this — you have quite a bit of nerve trying to preach about the silencing of trans men when you’re cis and also have “social justice” blacklisted.
You are not relevant here.
I’m shocked that you think you’re blowing our minds with that last sentence. Did you even read the callout, or anything else on this blog for that matter, BEFORE coming in here with your big attitude and making a fool of yourself, or are you just reacting based on principle alone? We put our identities right on the fucking callout because we stand by our actions and what we have to say and will take whatever backlash results head on and are now holding the rest of you to that same standard by turning off anon. Hmm…
