Greater Flameback
the greater flameback is a brightly colored woodpecker species found in the indian subcontinent. the bird is highly variable in coloration through its different subspecies, which occupy different portions of its range. males always have a distinct red crest, while the crest color of females varies by subspecies. like other woodpeckers, the greater flameback mainly feeds by extracting insects and arthropods from trees, as well as supplementing their diet with nectar.
