The Greatest Loss - “I Miss You, Boss.”

So I still wake up in the middle on the night, Crying as you disappear from my sight. I miss seeing your face, hearing your voice, But you left us, and it wasn’t by choice. They tell me you’re no more, that you’re forever gone, But they don’t know that your legacy lives on.. That you’re still around, in the air that I breathe, That you’ll always be here, because you live inside me. You may not be physically present, But only you and I know, you said “my children need me, I ain’t coming with you yet.” to the angel that God sent. So you could continue to be the guiding light in my darkest days, The only thing I miss the most is your loving embrace. It was tough, but there are things I had to learn after you left. I learnt to really hear my alarm and wake up myself, I learnt to manage my time, And upon being asked, I learnt to lie and tell people that “I’m fine.” With you no longer around, I learnt to wipe my own tears, Without your protective arms around me, I learnt to face my fears. On the gloomiest of days, I taught myself to smile and be happy. I didn’t learn it all on my own, I know you helped cuz that’s how you want me to be. And even though I try my best not to cry, I promise you, I’ll never let your memory die. You were the best grandfather, protector and my best friend, And you stood by my side, till the very end. You did what you always said, in the good old days: “I am with you, for you, ALWAYS!” Thank you for the best childhood, but this isn’t goodbye. Okay, Boss? Heaven may have greeted the best man, the greatest man on this planet. But I guess it’s obvious that we have suffered the greatest loss. I miss you, Boss.
