The two-faced exploitation and abuse of the Greek people at full display, in all its glory. The ideology is polar opposite - the exploitation is the same. This is what we are exposed to, constantly (it’s always very common but is becoming epidemic with Nolan’s movie) and if we attempt to offer input, we will usually be shunned out of it with the obligatory laugh emojis and mocking comments, in a predictable manner we know all too well.

The scariest thing here is the number of likes in the second comment. But make no mistake, even if it initially seems less problematic, the first comment is not less evil. Read it very carefully and you will understand. It’s no surprise it comes from a Turk.

So tomorrow this movie comes to cinemas https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=n7f6hlKsxxo the live action take of Moana, and since one week later THAT monstrosity will come too, i cant help but make comparisons, on the treatment of the people & cultures, & the double standards. Is this Moana good? Well.... lets say it has problems & leave it to the people it attempts to represent to take over the criticism & listen to them. BUT. ALSO. This is one of cultures studios have tried to get better at portraying accurately the stories & cultures involved, progress is too slow, but still tangible. I doubt i'll see viking ships showing up, tellemachus baggins, robin menelaus hood, scotland washed pacific, northerner actor for protagonist, subsahatan twins for important characters & LA cast y'know? I see the "odyssey" & i despair. Then i look at this americanized MESS & sigh longingly. It at least does SOME basic things right like the cast, unlike mr. Attention to detail. Anyway thought i'd ask for your opinion. Hades. A leather clad bad boy with blue hair type. Yeah. Some cultures get a different treatment. Not that i want a liveaction of Herakles, just to not touch our stuff

I have said this before but the more you all open my eyes to new monstrosities, the less happy I get... What do you mean Hades and Maleficent had a child together...Oh god... this is especially painful because the Sleeping Beauty is my favourite Disney princess and favourite Gothic tale... why...why would you do this to me... (By the way I also hated live action Maleficent with Angelina Jolie being turned into a "misunderstood" sensitive heartbroken woman, all the while turning the good fairies into some wackos completely unfit to raise Aurora.) WHAT'S WRONG WITH THEM why do they have to shit on everything aaaaaaaarrrrrgghhhhhh.

BTW I was reminded how much I hate Disney Channel. I have never seen a single thing on this channel that I have not found to be unwatchable cheap crap... Even as a kid - teen, I couldn't bear to watch anything there for more than 2 minutes.

As for the Moana live action film, judging from the trailer, it seems they made sure to stay way more culturally sensitive than they do with anything Greek, at least as far as I am aware. It's interesting to see however that this trailer is also utterly trashed:

The truth is that the trailer looks totally mid, plain and uninspiring and full of bad CGI. People also make the valid criticism that original animated Moana was released only ten years ago and Moana 2 was released only two years ago, so to say there was a need for a live-action version / retelling is ridiculous at best. It's just Disney and Hollywood staffed with non-creative and arguably non-talented people completely drained of even the slightest original idea, in a desperate need to milk the audience's money with aera kopanisto. I think people understand and they turn their back to Hollywood. Hollywood is really in panic. Really falling apart. Wow. I don't even feel like making this about cultural sensitivity. I am just gonna marvel at this epic fall from grace that is happening in torturous slow-motion.

As we are at it, let's remember the ratio in Odyssey's trailer as of now:

The sad thing is you know the Odyssey is still gonna do mad tickets. The glaze Nolan gets is unreal and there is also a huge bunch of folks who can't think for themselves and believe giving money to Nolan (a guy who has glorified the White Male archetype like nobody else, hence also all the obsessed Nolan fanboys) is making them open-minded *smh*
