Yay, Green Arrow x Husband!Reader! So excited!
Super long post - meeting Ollie, finding out, and some fluff.
Why is it so hard to find a gif of this guy that isn’t Olicity? I mean, come on, people! Grrrr...
“Hey, you wanna hear a great pick-up line? ‘I’m Oliver Queen.’“
You look at the handsome guy coming up to you. You’re both in college in Star City. He’s got a wonderful smile and a great body, but you’ve heard of Ollie Queen and you know he’s trouble.
“Huh. You’re right. That is a good one. But I’ve got a better one.”
“Oh yeah?” He leans in, thinking he’s got you hooked.
“Yeah. ‘I’m Bruce Wayne.’“
He recoils, and, winking at him, you walk away.
It’s hard to say when you two actually started dating.
He kept coming across you, although you got the feeling that he just wanted you because you were the only one to refuse him.
And somewhere along the line, he wore you down.
“Come on, Y/N.”
“Eh.”
“I’ll take you to Paris. Rome. Hell, Montreal if you want!”
“Hard pass.”
He laughs. “What do I have to do to get you to go on a date with me?”
You snicker. “Fine. Two things.”
“Done.”
“You haven’t heard them yet.”
“Don’t care. Done.”
“Okay.” You grin. “First, you tell me why you want to go out with me so bad.”
He smiles. “’Cause you’re amazing. First time I saw you, you... I didn’t see anything else. For, like, a week. So I thought I’d try and explore that feeling because... it was nice.”
You nod. “Huh. Okay.”
“What’s the second thing?”
You smirk. “I want you to dance for me in the quad wearing only a tutu.”
He chuckles. “Bold of you to assume I haven’t actually done that.”
“Okay, fine. I was kidding. I’ll go on a date with you.”
He grins and wraps his arms around you. “Heh. Pushover. I was kinda looking forward to it.”
So eventually you two start dating exclusively, and it’s... surprisingly wonderful. He doesn’t pressure you into anything, and it’s very chill. His favorite date even seems to be relaxing at one of your guys’ apartments. He’s different with you. Less of a party boy, less of a douche.
Until one day, he tells you he has to go on this yachting trip with his dad. “But before I go, I had a question for you.”
“What?” you ask. You’re both in bed, and he reaches into the jacket left over the nightstand and pulls out a little velvet box.
“I’m gonna tell my dad about us. And I wanted to know, Y/N. Will you marry me?”
Your response is the biggest kiss you’ve ever given him.
And that’s the last you see of him for five years.
When Ollie finally returns, he’s very different. He doesn’t come to see you right away.
It’s only after you catch a glimpse of the hooded figure with the bow and connect the dots. “Crud. Ollie.”
You yell for the hood, and he looks at you, startled. And then you beckon him in.
He knows you know. “Look, Y/N, I-”
“It’s funny, I always thought you’d pull the ‘I can explain’ line on me in a very different context.”
“But... look, I’m sorry I-”
“Yeah, yeah. You didn’t come to see me because you don’t want me involved in whatever this is because you care about me. Well, news flash. I love you, Oliver Queen. I know. I haven’t seen you in five years, but I know what I feel. So either you’re gonna tell me everything, or you’re gonna tell me you don’t love me. And I’ll give you a hint. You should tell me everything.” And then you hold out the ring, on your finger.. “Five years, I’ve been mourning my husband. So give me a reason why you haven’t given me so much as a text message.”
So he does. And he breaks down crying with how much he missed you. “Every day on Lian Yu I thought of you, Y/N. Every single day.”
And so, in the face of his mother, even though you know danger is coming, you marry Oliver.
And immediately become the man behind Green Arrow. He even gives you the codename Reticle - after the crosshairs in a scope, since you are what keeps him focused and on target. You throw yourself into studying his every move (which can get distracting - salmon ladder, ‘nuff said) and helping him perfect his technique. You figure out the best application for his trick arrows, and you learn exactly what trajectories and angles he shoots best from.
This goes on for a while. By day you pretend to indulge in Ollie’s clubbing lifestyle, the two of you becoming Star City’s biggest playboys. It’s exhausting, really, so Ollie makes sure to take some time to take you on real dates, and plenty of time for the real fun - relaxing under a blanket.
These come as a surprise. You awaken and get ready to start the day when Oliver drapes himself over you and says, “No.”
“No?”
“Mmm-hmm. You’re mine today. Stay in bed with me.”
You smirk. “What’s in it for me?”
He grins. “I’ll be your teddy bear.”
You two snuggle close, just relaxing through the morning until you get hungry enough for a brunch. The whole day will be spent well, in much-needed relaxation.
And for a moment, you forget about the Arrow, about the city, and just stay there with your husband.
