March 25, 2017 my dream of seeing Green Day live came true. My best friend and I made our iconic "Tré Cool is a Hologram" shirts and went down to Pittsburgh. We got to the venue way earlier than necessary because we hoped to see the band. We managed to walk by the now love of my life Jeff Matika but I was too freaked out to say anything to him. Bonus was the catering guy who supplied with drinks and food. The concert was the best night of my life. I was in the seats but still dancing and screaming my ass off. I felt the energy of the crowd and I still don't know how to describe how connected to everyone as they played Jesus of Suburbia.
August 21, 2017. Little did I know that Green Day would announce a third leg of the tour covering my home city Cleveland. The only thing is I live in Maryland now. A week before the show I found out my dad was heading up to Ohio and I'd be able to go. I decided to check tickets out and found they had just released Pit tickets. I bought it right away. It was my first time going to a concert alone, I put on my Tré Cool is a Hologram shirt which is now my official Green Day concert shirt, and it was an adventure from start to finish that included a Trump supporting uber driver who dodged venue security and meeting some fantastic fans. I got to barrier on Jason White's side and still can't believe my luck. They played Welcome to Paradise which I wasn't expecting and freaked the hell out because it's always been a favorite of mine. Words can't describe how I felt that night. The cathartic feelings I had, being able to vent my frustrations. Seeing my favorite band in the world that close and making contact with Jason White left a dopey smile on myself forever. Both times are truly two of the best times of my life.
