A Love Note To A Place Very Important Place
Reading Gotham-Ruaidh's wonderful story has made me nostalgic for my childhood. This building is the Greenpoint Libary which is no longer there. It was torn down because of the building’s deterioration and replaced in the early 1970s. This building was fundamental to my childhood. I spent many summers sitting on the cool marble floors hiding in the book stacks reading. I think my love for books, reading, and writing came from this very building. It was a wonderful place. It smelled of books, furniture polish on wooden tables and chairs. The air was always cool even in the hottest summer. The Librarian’s Desk was circular. They were the kindest and most knowledgeable ladies I had ever met. My friends as a young reader were Anatole the Mouse, Madaline, Ferdinand. As I got older I progressed to more complex books. I owe a lot to this building and the lovely ladies. Thank you Greenpoint Library for opening so many different worlds to me. 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡 @gotham-ruaidh
