What remains of Dana Center today: the town common (with mature maple and chestnut trees), several paved roads and sidewalks; and the cellarholes of several houses, a hotel, the town hall, and the schoolhouse. Most of Dana remained above the water level of the Quabbin (though several of its villages were submerged, notably North Dana), but the Commonwealth took the town in its entirety for watershed protection. Three other towns were also taken: Enfield, Greenwich, and Prescott, all whose corporate territory (both above and below the water) were annexed onto adjoining towns. Like Dana, Prescott remained mostly above water, but was taken for watershed protection; its center was on what is known today as the Prescott Peninsula and #danama #quabbin #petersham #enfieldma #prescottma #greenwichma #swiftriver (at Dana Center, Massachusetts)
