I got this book for Christmas and started reading it in the week leading up to New Year's. It took me until This past Tuesday to finish it, which is not at all a statement about the book. It was an enjoyable read, it was not life changing like some memoirs claim to be (at least by the people that read them), but it was fun. There were some interesting things, especially the parts about Bob Dylan, that I didn't know before. To be honest, I knew nothing about Pops Staples besides him being the old man singing the Moses verse in The Last Waltz version of The Weight. Speaking of which, that being one of my favorite movies I'm glad Greg Kot gave their performance its own chapter.
The chapters are short and many so it's easy to read it only parts at a time. I've been spending a lot of time during work hours riding shotgun for ~3 hours a day, which is where I spent most of my time reading this (Yay for getting paid to read and nap!). That environment makes me think this would be a very good travel book, either road tripping, training, or planing. Even though I didn't know most of the songs referenced it still gave me a nice soundtrack for the ride.
