Ok, I had to bring back this classic back. The first full length solo project from Greg P.O.R.N. from @theroots. First off, GP is one of THE MOST UNDERRATED MC'S IN HIP HOP. He is BRILLIANT in his delivery. Granted, I can see how someone could mistake him for Danny Brown but he is truly unique. Amerikin Junkie doesn't embrace the street life and sippin lean and drug dealing that a lot of hip hop does/did. It addresses the real or dark sides of the streets and addiction prostitution, party life, Philly streets. P.O.R.N.'s dark harrowing message coupled with his way with lyrics is hauntingly incredible and impactful. He paints a vividly dark picture of his landscape from an alternative perspective. Now if you're a mumble rap lover or you say "I just listen to the beat, I don't listen to the words.. " Then this record is not for you. But if you like hip hop that is thought provoking and real and makes you think, this is a great project.
