Turns out one of the 33 people who listens to my music more than any other artist is this little rocker, Niko. A few months ago he had heard me play in Charlotte and I had given him a CD. Unbeknownst to me, he had been listening to that CD everyday and streaming my music on Spotify. On Friday, Niko and his family surprised me and showed up to my gig at @thehobbyistclt and told me how much my music means him. He asked me to sign his guitar that he is learning to play and take a picture with him. I played some his of his favorite songs and gave him a variety of guitar picks to practice with, including some Greg Adams picks I still have.
When you release music (at the stage in my career at least) you really don’t know who is listening or enjoying the songs. His mom told me that signing the guitar and playing for him made his day, but the truth is it equally made my day and year. It really is the greatest gift to see how your music is impacting the world around you. A true highlight and milestone in my career. We even dress the same 😂. In no time he’ll be writing his own songs and taking the world by storm. We can only hope he grows his hair out so I can get him a hat to match.
