The Ancient One

I’ve always had a soft spot for Norwegian folklore, and this idea had been living in my head for a while.

I wanted this piece to feel less like a monster fight and more like the moment you realise you’ve stumbled across something impossibly ancient.

I also took the opportunity to experiment with a more painterly style than usual, and I had an absolute blast painting it.

Fun detail: Sam and Dean are watching the creatures hidden among the trees… while Cas is the only one who’s noticed The Ancient One.

Little note: Trying something a little different with this comic strip! I went black and white this time so I could focus on the storytelling instead of rendering every panel, and I think I might stick with it. 🥰 let me know what you think!

Cas has just finished his shift at Ed’s Diner, and Dean has absolutely, definitely, 100% accidentally started queueing suspiciously romantic songs on the jukebox.

Those pesky buttons are so tiny, mistakes happen 😏

Cas, meanwhile, is either blissfully oblivious… or choosing not to call Dean out on it.

This one put me through the wringer, fam. 😭 I was fully prepared to launch my iPad across the room at least three separate times.

It’s only my second full-body illustration, which was definitely outside my comfort zone, but I learned a lot while making it (and yes… I hand-drew the AC/DC logo because apparently I enjoy making life difficult for myself) 💀

Despite all the swearing, I think this might actually be my favourite Dean I’ve drawn so far. ❤️

Very, very excited to share what I’m currently cooking up. 🔥

I’ve always been fascinated by Norwegian folklore, so naturally my brain went, “What if Trollhunter met Supernatural?”

I’m also experimenting with a much more painterly style than usual, which is honestly equal parts exciting and terrifying. 😂 So far though? I’m having a blast.
