A Trev Corner recently hit 100 followers, and I had been wanting to make a post as a 'thank you' for all the people who have shared my little colors, and all the people who decided to stick around afterwards. I originally wanted to do a short few paragraphs just listing the people whom I need to think for getting me this far.

But I felt like it needed more, and aside from a few known exceptions, I know most people don't read the lengthy exposition I post along side my colors. But the people I've met who dislike reading usually enjoy listening.

This is why I've decided to record my thanks instead.

I understand that 100 followers is a drop in the bucket compared to others out there, and it still surprises me so many people enjoy me coloring and showcasing the art of others. I'm not the best at coloring, and I certainly cannot hold a candle to the artists that I highlight on here. That's why this is so special to me. And why people deserve thanks.

I apologize in advance if I mispronouce your sceen names.

First thanks must go to the first. Thank you Dilarus for giving me a reason to start coloring with Southern Belle AJ and Meet The Pones. It's an honor that I can help with a great series, and see a talented artist grow and learn in their persuit to become something more. I'm happy that they've included me in the creative process.

@tricomator for being the first of my friends who received my occasional colorings with praise. The range of detail in their art style is a wonder to behold. I never thought one could mix adorable ponies with the horrors of lovecraftian design, though that's only a part of what they can do. You have also been exceedingly kind and observant. Both qualities I hold in high regard.

Grey from @greyartpost who joined in with the team. You've been very supportive of me by showing interest in my sparse writings and giving feedback on the coloring progress long with pushing me to try inking. Stay strong, my friend.

@faline-art for being so receptive to me coloring her work. Your style is very easy to work with and makes me more than happy to give them a splash of color. You and Veritgo never fail to show your support and your reaction to each one helps motivate me to continue. I simply love how you love these.

@ncmares being the chill and enthusiastic supporter that he is. Occasionally comes to check up on me while streaming and to leave a word or two of support on the more experimental things that I upload. They don't go unnoticed, my friend.

@amarynceus for having an open door for me to join in whenever you are streaming. Reminding me understand that comparing ourselves to other artists in terms of worth is pointlessly dragging us down.

And to the rest of you who have reblogged and shared these colorings You've helped these artists get more of the attention that they deserve. I'd be lying if it wasn't doing myself some good to know people enjoy the work that I do. If I have forgotten anybody, please forgive me and my tired mind.  I hope you're all enjoying time with family and friends during this Holiday season. Take care. Keep safe.

This is the first time I’ve posted something from @greyartpost. The guy posts so many sketches and I often find myself drawn to some of them. In this case, it was the expression and the entire pose that caught my eye. Kind of a somber, thoughtful stance that looked elegant in it’s own right. I felt the need to color it, but I’m not sure I did it justice.  Grey has a way of putting so much body detail in these simple characters that gives them more depth. Makes you realize they have muscle, bones, and presence.

Yep, a simple pone off to the side of the page. Something I should note is I actually lined this one. Traced it, anyway. It’s not the first attempt, but the first time I’ve shown it. I’m not exactly the best at making neat and concise lines. Yeah, I know I’m referring to rough sketches but often times you can recognize raw skill in an artist from their sketches. It was hard to improvise the right hoof and I know it’s not right. But It’s good enough.

Even tracing I can see I made many mistakes that I’m trying not to focus on. Best to post it an move on rather then get disheartened by a shortcoming that is sure to improve with time. Here’s the hope you don’t mind me posting something rough once in a while.

The coloring was using simple solid colors with an extra tone here and there to make things more interesting. Took a bit of time to find the right color. The technique I used the practice this time was to color the entire character the same color so I could use a clipping layer to do rapid swaps of that color. I believe I tried over a dozen before finally settling on what you see above. Just used a darker version to color the stomach and shade a few other areas.

When I asked Grey who the pony was supposed to be, he couldn’t tell me. Said that was like asking him who that man is who shares the page. I know there’s similarities to Scootaloo, but I’d like to think of her as a new pony. I’m sure the name is taken, but I like the sound of Misty Heart. If anyone wants to take up this character and make something of it, I would love to see it. From what Grey told me, she’s meant to be a Pegasus. There was no way I was going to draw the wings free form just yet.

Thank you for reading this far. I appreciate there’s people out there that don’t mind the ramblings I like to put on my posts. I like to explain myself. Kind of helps me get into my comfort zone. I hope more comes out of it soon. Again, thank you.
