sasusakuiscanon-naluwillbecanon Well I'm not sure about everywhere else, but here in Canada massage therapy is considered a medical profession (even though we're not treated that way by insurance companies often, and not taken seriously by some personnel of other medical professions like doctors and such too). So since I started school I just had the thought in the back of my mind about how absolutely cool it would be to really help the people that come to see me. Doctors don't have a lot of time to spend with their patients so they don't get a full picture and often have to just push prescriptions. But for massage it's such a holistic experience and we focus a lot on preventative measures. We can't diagnose officially, but to have such a good opinion on something and be able to tell the client what you think might be the issue so they can get the best treatment possible is just *clenches fist* yes. I have to buff up my studies a lot to get to where I want to be, but once I get there it'll be so amazing :) And then hopefully I can bring more respect to massage therapy as a career and then maybe we'd be taken seriously enough to be able to diagnose and free up some of the waiting rooms and help the medical profession like we should be able to already. I mean, I know I'm just fresh out of college and have a lot to learn, but that's what makes it a good dream right? XD
