Good Morning Eveeyone. Thank you for the likes and the follows. I stuck around in the studio a little longer than I should have today, but I made the progress to assemble my three-piece sculpture. Edges are done some touching up with the paint is necessary and a final coat to protect it all but it is assembled. Three new pieces will be at the Blue Moon Gallery in Grayslake next week! Today you get to see a little bit more texture in the red. I'm also sharing the base (how exciting for you). The series of three has the intent of strong contrasts and I believe that's what is happening. Assembly tomorrow perhaps. I need to pick up a new sander to clean up my frame, but beyond that it's coming together well. The next series will be paintings on canvas with the ideas of sculpture rolling around in my head. It has been a number of days since I've been in my home studio, and a wonderful number of days it's been. All that said now it's back to work. These sculptures will be the last for a while, and I hope, I plan on having them done for my upcoming show at the Blue Moon Gallery. There has to be a bit more contrast I think in the colors that were working with here right now, a little bit lighter for this final shape than my initial plans were. But we'll see. The color is mixed, and waiting underneath a sheet of plastic wrap, ready for tomorrow. A second coat on purple, a second coat or third coat on Orange, and some more work on the base. Enjoy. I had better lighting today for the photographs so look beyond the first ones to see the past few days. I've got space and proportion and scale as a focus today as well as texture. As always, color is an important part. Is the scale about my space? Is the texture a bit of what's in my head... Or the world? I have a feeling this is the one space I can completely control. Another gouache in the am. Tomorrow might be the last morning painting as the sculptures need to continue. This might be a long process on that as I also have a number of frames to construct, art to lable, school work to do as well (focus on school at school, art at home) and other house affairs as well. My gouache is coming on Tuesday. So, while I wait, a few more watercolors. This is a thought on making my new sculptures human scale. The interplay of the lines will be the challenge. I'm still working out the kinks in the ideas but... The ideas are still developing. That's the point of thinking out ideas. I am not quite able to be a #calder and do it instinctively. Thoughts?
