“Alright. Now.” Sera had been watching Vanele from across camp all day before she finally approached her. 

Vanele glanced up briefly at her friend before continuing her work mending her quiver. It was not a mystery as to why Sera’s attention was so rapt on her. 

Her vallaslin had only been taken a day before. It was not difficult to throw herself into work - to gather Sera and Blackwall and leave. She could not linger in Skyhold. Cole wanted to join, but she was not in the mood to hear the spirit boys damned reassurances of Solas’ affection. She did not want to confront that. 

“You command the inquisitor to speak?” Vanele flashed Sera a wicked grin, “bold.”

Sera snorted in response, “Ohh hoity toity are we now?” The taller elf settled in beside her, the pair falling into a comfortable silence. “He hurt you?” Sera’s voice was quiet, so quiet she almost missed her question. 

Setting aside her now mended quiver she rolled her neck, trying to release the building tension in her muscles.  All the while she fought down the urge to scream. To let the betrayal she felt show. I am the inquisitor, I cannot break, I will not bend. “In a way.”

“And your?” Sera gestured to her face and scrunched her own is disgust.

“My choice.” Vanele saw Blackwall off in the distance with firewood, knowing that this conversation would end as soon as he was within earshot. 

“Bastard doesn’t deserve you - you know. You need a friend, you’ve got me. We’ll get pissed, problem solved.” Sera nudged her and motioned to Blackwall, “The two of us. At your side. No matter what. Got it?”

Despite herself, despite the strength she thought she had, Vanele felt tears welling up in her eyes. I’m not alone. “Thank you, Sera.”

I’m sorry for the solavellan mentions if you don’t ship it! This scene just came to mind because Vanele and Sera become very close after the Solas debacle. Her and Blackwall are basically her bffs from then on out. And this isn't even formatted like a codex entry whoops.

He has some difficulties in dealing with Circle mages who are content with their condition and agree in any way with the Templars regime; he doesn’t hate them of course but definitely thinks they’re just too brainwashed to actually see the truth behind their oppression. He also never considered Circles like anything but prisons by another name, so he really struggles to understand their usefulness, in there’s one to consider at all.He fell in love with Anders for many reasons and their shared resentment about mages rights was one of them, he totally approved of his move against the Chantry.He loved Bethany very dearly and sometimes he sees bits and pieces of her in Merrill so that he’s compelled to protect her at any given moment even if she clearly doesn’t need his help. Truth to be told, Dimitri is conflicted on the subject of blood magic (which he was taught to consider as an abuse of power) but they respect each other so much that this never really came to be a problem.Does your mage have any sympathy for Templars?Zero, no, nada, nein, non! Dimitri would punch them in the face like 24/7 if given the occasion.He stands against everything they represent, with their shining armors and strict rules, acting like the mages should be thankful of the chains (material or figurative) the Order put around their necks.He saw them in action while still in Lothering and then again, Malcom used to tell him and Bethany neverending stories about what happens when mages are trapped into Circles and guarded all the time for the rest of their lives. Even in Kirkwall, those rare time they met a decent templar, Dimitri never seemed to trust them completely, he always made sure they had a plan B when dealing with them; and after what happened with Meredith he doesn’t regret his resentment at all.Needless to say, Anders’s personal life experience didn’t help much in this regard, he would fight literally anyone to protect his lover.Do they consider magic a blessing or a curse?The former, even if blessing is a bit of a strong word here because he doesn’t really believe in the Maker. Nevertheless, he grew up knowing that his magic was something to cherish and not to be ashamed of; he believes it is power and power is good when used to protect and to help others instead of taking advantage of their weaknesses. Beware, he’s not the Good Samaritan type and can also be very frighting when he lashes out in a storm of fire but he would never use his magic as tool to affirm his supremacy as a person. This is why he’s so angry at this system that oppresses mages trying to make them less than who they really are; magic is part of him just like fencing is for Carver; he trained to sharpen his abilities, to improve them so that he could feel whole and free, never afraid again.
