Grieve-tan commission for @f-d-draws!
- commission info -
What are your thoughts on Grieve-tan?
One thing I noticed is that for most cute girl redesigns, keeping the character attractive and appealing is more important than keeping the character recognisable. Best case scenario, the redesign looks more like a generic girl wearing a costume than the actual character. The absolute worst thing to do is fill the new character design with detail that has nothing to do with the original. This is the primary reason why Girls Frontline is so bad.
Grieve-tan’s design is great because keeping her recognisable as General Grievous gives her tons of features that aren’t conventionally attractive. She has eye bags and bad teeth and four arms. At the same time, these traits make her believable as someone who goes to highschool and might even resemble someone you know in real life.
I think this is the reason why this spinoff character is reasonably popular. Ideally, people should be using the same design philosophy to create an entire cyborg girl gang, but for the most part, people are fixated on this one Grieve-tan design.
I got to do everything myself these days.
“Later, buddy”. Art-request for @f-d-draws
she had too much to drink
I thought the last one was too messy so I cleaned it up
Don’t know what to do with characters arms and hands.
Hey, why don’t I draw a character with four arms?! I don’t see what could go wrong!
Spend three days of trying to figure out what to do with her hands.
And here we are. Some Grieve-Tan threads popped on on /co/ and I thought it would be fun to draw her. That three day bit was no joke either, because something that struck me during was that each pair of arms needed to convey the same emotion. So I needed to figure out a set up that had each pair of arms “saying” approximately the same thing. In this case excitement. I think it came out ok, but three days for this isn’t exactly ideal. However it may be a small thing but I’m kinda proud of her upper right hand, came out pretty good.
Since you make requests, can you draw a cute/lewd Grieve-tan, please?
Thigh-highs are lewd enough, right?
Sure I can! but... it took me way longer than expected, not because it was hard but rather because every single time I sat down to draw her someone always asked me for something or my tablet went crazy, anyway! here you are, I really hope you like it
