If you are looking to get it out there and officially published or tied to your name I'd write the story but if you wanna try it out first with an audience and have it distributed faster than I'd say fic

i’m going to reply to both of these in one post, alright? I want to publish it but only if i really think it’s good enough and if it could possibly go well. I know in fandom and the like, this kind of shit makes people really excited sometimes, but in like the world, it sometimes doesn’t? I guess, a thing I was thinking about a few weeks ago was trying out the world as a fic and seeing if there’s interest and a way to make it better and then diving into it from an original standpoint? if that makes sense
