This is a bit of a basic answer, but Hairspray will always hold a very special place in my heart. It was the first show I saw that actually had some sort of underlying message and wasn’t just spectacle. It helped me realize you can make art that’s fun and happy, but also heartbreaking and inspiring and altogether truthful.
