The dead are at peace, for once.
And another one for @dailygrims!
Spritevember day 3- Grimdark!
Concept; Grimdark Aradia is representation of a denial/fear/hate of death. Robot Aradia is an exploration/embodiement of this concept. Becoming Grimdark subverts and causes a fear of a characters aspect. Given that rose when Grimdark becomes both shrouded in darkness (subverting light literally), speaks in an unintelligible language (subverting light metaphorical by obscuring knowledge/information) and even resents doc scratch (an omnicompetent being). One of the most prominent themes of time players is death. (Just as knowledge is a prominent them of light players) Dave and Aradia both present some level of comfort with death as children. Dave had a dead things collection. Aradia regularly communed with ghosts. As a ghost Aradia seemed completely comfortable with her death and all of the alt Daves seemed to be comfortable with dying of it aided the alpha timeline. Because of this deep association with death it seems natural that a Grimdark Aradia would arise from a fear of death or seeking to control death. Rose becomes Grimdark after going off on her own and following the instructions of doc scratch (a being of infinite knowledge, who in reality obscures knowledge(a la Hal)). Which is ultimately an attempt of rose to control her aspects through incorrect means. Afterwards she ultimately gives into light and is able to ascend to godteir by being consumed by the green sun.(a literal representation of light) In robot Aradia we see a similar attempt to control ones aspect. Both in becoming robot Aradia and killing Vriska. As robot Aradia we see a common theme of attempting to control death. When Aradia becomes a robot she is trying to control her own death by revving herself. In killing Vriska she attempts to control Vriska's death. However, in the end Aradia doesn't let her fear and attempt to control death consume her. In ripping her heart our Aradia gives into death, understanding that both life and death are impermanent in the medium and in similar means to rose she ascends to godteir by accepting her aspect rather that subverting it.
The air is fresher the second time around.
Something else comes in
Absolutely devilish of you, little maid.
