1. WHO IS THE MOST AFFECTIONATE?
I think Blanche, mostly because she's the one who initiates those shows of affection first. It's small things like reaching out for his hand or linking her arm with his, but Riddle feels suddenly very confident and flustered at the same time. He likes being affectionate in private more, so in public it's just these small gestures that mean the world to both of them.
2. BIG SPOON/LITTLE SPOON?
Blanche tends to be the big spoon and lets Riddle rest on her chest whenever they're lying together in bed. Though just as often, Riddle insists on having the roles reversed since it would only be the gentlemanlike thing to do. It's generally an act of comfort and support and they both want to make sure the other understands their intentions.
How much they tend to overwork themselves. It's pretty hypocritical given that they're both very guilty of this, but also they only seem to find it a problem when the other does it. They tend to be quite involved in each other's lives and hold the other accountable for their actions, but because they were not taught how to express their worries and concerns in a healthy manner, they tend to approach such situations in a rather confrontational manner.
4. FAVOURITE NON-SEXUAL ACTIVITY?
Reading! It's not a surprise, but since they both are very studious people they tend to spend a lot of their dates studying. Though it's usually schoolwork, they will forsake it in favour of reading a nice classic as well. They especially enjoy reading the same book next to each other, then discussing the themes and plot points once they reach a certain stage. It's a very intellectual take usually, which other people might find boring, but they genuinely enjoy swapping opinions with each other and are fascinated by their partner's mind.
5. WHO IS MOST LIKELY TO CARRY THE OTHER?
Riddle. He really does want to prove that he's capable and responsible, and that sort of comes with the expectation that if anybody has to carry anyone, it should be him. This means mostly that he'd give her piggyback rides rather than anything else, but he looks very proud of himself when he manages to do that, so Blanche does not complain.
6. WHAT IS THEIR FAVORITE FEATURE OF THEIR PARTNER'S?
For Blanche, it would be his back. It's a little difficult to explain, but she finds the sight of it quite comforting. Riddle is the sort who keeps a good posture and his head high, making sure that he looks people in the eye without cowering. To Blanche who has been taught since young that she must be subservient and docile, that is something unheard of, and subsequently very attractive to see somebody with no such compunction.
For Riddle, it has to be her eyes. He finds them very charming and they perfectly show her honest nature and how steadfast she is. Because Blanche generally keeps her gaze on the environment around her out of instinct he really treasures the times when she looks him straight in the eyes with no hesitation. He really feels seen and acknowledged when she does it too, like they are equals.
7. WHAT'S THE FIRST THING THAT CHANGES WHEN THEY REALIZE THEY HAVE FEELINGS FOR THE OTHER?
They become more awkward than before. They've always been quite awkward, but with each other, they've found a kindred spirit that is able to empathize with their struggles and match intellectually as well. Once feelings, proper feelings, start entering the equation things become more muddled and quite complicated.
Suddenly, they keep rethinking their words and become more concerned with what the other thinks of them, and even show signs of jealousy and frustration because they feel like they aren't properly conveying the image that they want. Suddenly, the other's opinion of them becomes incredibly important to them and they're very eager to be seen in a positive light.
8. NICKNAMES? IF SO, HOW DID THEY ORIGINATE?
I don't think as teenagers that they have any sort of nicknames, but as adults, they probably sneak in a "love" or "dear" occasionally, when the context is right. They're pretty reserved in public so they most likely do it in the privacy of their own home, where it's just the two of them and they are able to be soft.
It's probably an equal amount. They both tend to be quite strung up, and don't really have a lot of experience with a lot of stuff so it always comes down to both feeling rather worried about what might happen. They don't really externalize those sentiments but just become a little more doting towards one another for those small bursts. The other usually knows the fussing is because they are worried, so they let them do as they please. Blanche knows that Riddle just likes to be a gentleman and look after her.
10. WHO REMEMBERS WHAT THE OTHER ONE ALWAYS ORDERS AT A RESTAURANT?
They both do. But when Riddle remembers what she likes to eat it makes her feel very touched because she's quite used to being ignored and overlooked by her own family. To have somebody acknowledge her as her own person with likes and preferences manages to hit a chord with her.
Riddle usually does. He's very thoughtful by nature, and he sees topping as an extension of that since it would mean that he is in control of the situation and can properly attend to her needs.
12. WHO INITIATES KISSES?
Blanche. She tends to do it only when the two of them are alone, and they're pretty chaste - a peck on the cheek or lips, though when she pulls back Riddle is already red and stuttering. She'd reach over so just their pinkies touched, and Riddle would know that she wanted to show him encouragement so he leans over and returns the kiss properly as it leads to a proper makeout session.
13. WHO REACHES FOR THE OTHER'S HAND FIRST?
Blanche. It's more of a pinky touching pinky sort of situation rather than anything else, preferably out of everybody's sight, and even though Riddle can feel her touch he tries to keep a calm face so he doesn't give anything away. It's a comforting touch meant to let him know she's there and he's really fighting to keep the red off his face at the tenderness.
14. WHO KISSES THE HARDEST?
Riddle does, but by accident. He tries to be very considerate most of the time, and not hurt Blanche in any way, but he also wants to come across as an adult and they get a little rough sometimes. And other times he's just overcome by affection and lets himself lean in too hard, so he forgets how fragile Blanche can be and feels bad for doing that. She always assures him that she doesn't mind it because she knows that he would never willingly cause her any harm.
Blanche. It's mostly because due to being so sensitive to sound, she has the tendency to wake up from the slightest noise. They're both early birds, who like to be out and about, but generally, while she does wake up first, she usually lies in bed, close to Riddle, enjoying the warmth and comfort, happy that she found somebody like him.
When he does wake up, she's the first thing he sees, and it helps him feel more at ease as well. They really found comfort in one another and enjoy these little, fleeting moments quite a lot.
16. WHO WANTS TO STAY IN BED JUST A LITTLE LONGER?
I don't think either would be all that interested in this. They're punctual, very responsible people so they wouldn't want to laze around in bed too much. Except that sometimes they had a long night, and Blanche just pulls on Riddle's wrist so he lays back down with her and cuddles, so they can just enjoy a few more minutes with one another before the day starts properly.
17. WHO SAYS "I LOVE YOU" FIRST?
Blanche. I think she's the one who takes the plunge and just straight-up confesses to Riddle in a very convoluted fashion that leaves him stunned, since he did not expect something like that and isn't sure how to respond either. He'd been meaning to confess as well, but wanted things to be 'proper' so now that the tables are turned he's left speechless.
18. WHO LEAVES LITTLE NOTES IN THE OTHER ONE'S LUNCH? (BONUS: WHAT DOES IT USUALLY SAY?)
Blanche. She likes to sneak in little riddles, which she says are necessary for a sharp mind to stay alert, but they're in fact mostly love notes and uplifting comments. Riddle likes to take his time when figuring out those notes and can be spotted with a fond look in his eyes, every time he does manage to uncover the message. He saves all those notes and sometimes looks over them again.
19. WHO TELLS THEIR FAMILY/FRIENDS ABOUT THEIR RELATIONSHIP FIRST?
Neither. Their relationship with their families is very strained and they don't feel comfortable bringing up something like that at all. They can already predict that they most likely wouldn't approve or make a big deal out of it.
They're also too awkward to bring it up with their friends, so the Heartslaybyul gang and Marcia find out by sheer accident or figure it out themselves. The only confirmation they need is the suddenly blushing faces and how they avoid their gaze.
20. WHAT DO THEIR FAMILY/FRIENDS THINK OF THEIR RELATIONSHIP?
They're not very supportive. They don't oppose the match outright but they tend to meddle in it and transform it into an affair that includes them as well, rather than just Riddle and Blanche. They see it more as an opportunity to fulfil their own social desires than anything relating to the two of them and will become very critical of their behaviour as well.
Their friends are quite supportive on the other hand, though Riddle thinks they could ease on the teasing and the like. Still, he can see that they want the best for them and he is grateful for that. Ace and Deuce will try to use the knowledge to their advantage and ask Blanche to make Riddle go a little easier on them, but she just laughs and tells them that is simply impossible. It's against the rules, after all.
21. WHO IS MORE LIKELY TO START DANCING WITH THE OTHER?
I think Blanche would initiate it more. Simply because she tends to listen to music when she cleans or cooks, as it blocks out the white noise and feels very in tune with certain melodies. Her parents would never have approved of starting to dance around in the middle of the room out of the blue, so when she does it feels like she's finally won her independence. So when she takes Riddle by the hands and invites him to join, she wants him to experience that same type of joy she's feeling in the moment.
22. WHO COOKS MORE/WHO IS BETTER AT COOKING?
They share the responsibility. Blanche tends to be a better cook, going more by instinct rather than a recipe, while Riddle is building on the skills that he learned during the chef event. Generally, when he cooks they have a tasting night where they sit in the kitchen together. Riddle is preparing the meal and giving Blanche spoonfuls to taste so she can give her opinion, and it's a very relaxing situation for both of them as they talk about their days.
23. WHO COMES UP WITH CHEESY PICK-UP LINES?
Blanche. Though they're all said as a joke because she finds them ridiculous just as Riddle does too. They're very humorous, though sometimes she does accidentally come up with one that sounds a tad too genuine and leaves him blushing and flustered.
24. WHO WHISPERS INAPPROPRIATE THINGS IN THE OTHER'S EAR DURING INAPPROPRIATE TIMES?
Neither. They're both a bit too proper for something like this and would see it as far too distracting. Not to mention that they don't want to put the other in an embarrassing position like that.
25. WHO NEEDS MORE ASSURANCE?
I think they're both pretty equal in this regard. Neither had that much support growing up and it affected them greatly as a result, both developing insecurities relating to their worth and abilities, so any amount of kindness that they show to each other is one that stems from the knowledge that they both need to hear encouraging words from somebody they love and who loves them.
Theirs is an assurance built on experiencing similar traumas and recognizing in the other the same hurt that they are feeling, so the support they give each other is even more powerful because it comes from this place of understanding.
26. WHAT WOULD BE THEIR THEME SONG?
I think it would be "falling for you" by peachy! ft mxmtoon. It's a very soft and calming song about somebody being terrified of falling for somebody, but still wishing to confess regardless. It really fits the awkward intellectual vibes that this ship has, with both of them having feelings for each other but being unsure how to act on them, and when the optimal situation does present itself, they become flustered and frantic to act like nothing is wrong.
27. WHO WOULD SING TO THEIR CHILD BACK TO SLEEP?
Riddle. Though he'd find it extremely embarrassing at first, he'd still go ahead with it, because he read that it could help the baby be more comforted. I imagine he'd want to avoid making the same choices his parents so he tries his hardest to be the loving and supportive figure that he and Blanche lacked in their lives to their own child. And if that means having to learn how to sing, that is exactly what he will do.
28. WHAT DO THEY DO WHEN THEY'RE AWAY FROM EACH OTHER?
They go on with their day mostly. They can be quite solitary by nature and don't mind being alone for extended periods of time, so if they do end up separated they will simply focus on their tasks and responsibilities. That is not to say that they don't keep in touch! They still make sure to call and text each other, and Blanche has a tendency to send Riddle all sorts of funny jokes in order to cheer him up if he's had a rough day.
29. ONE HEADCANON ABOUT THIS OTP THAT BREAKS YOUR HEART.
I think it's the fact that they are both really broken by a similar type of trauma, that makes connecting with others quite difficult. They both missed out on having a childhood, due to the interference of their parents and thus lost valuable experiences that they never can recover. So there's just this constant knowledge that they missed out on a lot of things that are unable to be fixed due to the situation they find themselves in.
30. ONE HEADCANON ABOUT THIS OTP THAT MENDS IT.
That this shared trauma is eventually healed due in large part to the fact that they both resonate with each other's pain. There's somebody who knows what they went through and can empathize with it to such a degree that nothing they feel is really alien. It helps them not feel so alone in this path towards recovery. When they say to each other that they are there always and forever they mean it truly and sincerely since it's about the connection between them more than anything else.
