Voume 2 finale
Sorry that I'm very, very late and all. After watching the last episode of RWBY volume 2. I just could not take this off my mind until I type my opinions in the internet or something.
I am not satisfied with RWBY volume 2 finale. Sure it was awesome with team CVFY's debut with their awesomeness and the series is still young and has potential to shine.
Even if there are some cool stuff in the show, there are just 5, things that I really, really, disliked about the finale.
First, I really disliked how RT conveniently made Velvet not show her weapon at all. I was thinking if RT became lazy about animating or they had to make a rush to keep up with schedule. It was a crime for them to let the fans go loco with curiosity. I just wondered if there's a freaking Raising Heart in that box or something and she can turn total Mahou Shoujo on her foes, transformed in a cute dress and fire beams of destruction, with an awesome theme song.
Second, I don't like how the White fang grunts were thrown off the train with the possibility that the Grimm could be biting them off like hotdogs off-screen, Attack on Titan style and no one in Team RWBY talked about it. I just wondered if team RWBY really take the lives of people and civilians with great importance. Remember, some of these Faunus are civilians and just misguided folks who wanted equality but were resolved to join the terrorist group because of how live in of prejudice treated them.
Third, what happened to the morale lesson of taking responsibility and compensation for Damage? Even if team RWBY are part of beacon, they are still partly responsible for making that hole that let the Grimm enter the streets of Vale. The team be at least be scolded by Ms Glynda or something like how Ruby had in volume 1?
Fourth, I did not like how Cinder keeps on saying "it's all going according to plan", I don't know if Cinder was trying to hide her failure and embarrassment by smoothly bluffing at her associates or she was just improvising. It would be better if she should at least talk about one of their plans or something with her subordinates so the audience can get a better picture. It just ticked me off, it's as if Cinder keeps on saying "it's all going according to my Keikaku", to hide the theory that RT did not have a proper story-line at all. I just wish RT fix this problem on volume 3.
Fifth, the lack of sympathy factor when the Grimm attacked the streets of Vale as they terrorized the civilians. I felt nothing, are the Grimm facing a decay in badassery or something? I did not see much despair in the episode. What happened to fear, the very raw emotion that most humans should be feeling when the creatures of darkness wrecked havoc? Not only that, badass Grimm like the Nevermore and the deathstalkers were total chums, they were not like the cool ones in volume 1 when teams RWBY and JNPR were having a hard time taking them down in Emerald Forest. The ones in the volume 2 finale had and less intelligence and despite having an upgrade in size, that they are so goddamned useless and weak. What are they? The low-esteemed grimm?
I just wish RT will make improvements. Like how they did with Red vs Blue.
