Summer Gym Classes
Just in time for the gorgeous Summer weather, The Grimm’s Creek Gym offers a chance to get in your daily exercise without having to be inside. Nothing beats getting your heart rate up surrounded by nature. Since we’re outside, sneakers may be needed and be ready for intervals that combine cardio, yoga, boxing and martial-arts moves—with hydration breaks from the blazing sun. Bring your own mat (or grab one from the gym before class starts) and water and be ready for fun!
Mind Body Bootcamp
This sweat-producing full body workout fuses yoga, martial arts, kickboxing, tribal sequencing, with high intensity intervals for the ultimate mindbody experience. You will explore new ways of moving the body, opening the mind, and how to connect with positive frequencies. This class is fast-paced, playful and powerful, open to all levels, and has specifically curated playlists that will seriously motivate!
MindBody Bootcamp is not your typical workout experience! The Class combines plyometrics and interval training with martial arts, gymnastics, yoga and meditation. Using the campus as your gym (walls, benches, steps) you'll experience a high intensity full body burn, cooling down with deep stretching and meditation.
Important Notes:
- Wear sneakers and bring a yoga mat or towel & water.
- Classes meet at the courtyard fountain.
- If we do cancel the class, you will receive an email to the address associated with your mind body account.
Outdoor Crossfit
Get a taste for fast-paced cardio with weight training with these hour-long "Flash WODs" (that's "workout of the day" for the uninitiated. Meet at the specific site of the day or the studio before jogging over as a group (an email will be sent to specify). This is an all-levels workout that incorporates CrossFit and B/X moves with modifications. Best of all, these outdoor WODs require no advance registration. Just show up!
The Rise
If your morning spirit animal is less early bird and more hibernating bear, the Rise is the class for you. The crack-of-dawn workouts meet every weekday in various locations. You'll get your heart pumping before most people even hit snooze—and you might just become a morning person in the process.
High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)
When we start the timer it is on! Short intervals of high intensity bodyweight exercises like burpees, pushups, situps, dips, and box jumps. This 30 minute HIIT workout will kick your butt and help you discover the balance between speed and strength. We pace ourselves through a Tabata-style interval workout. What is that? Timed intervals of exercises at maximum effort with short breaks to catch your breath. Add some variety to your routine and join us in a fun, group setting. This workout will challenge everybody. Everybody is welcome.
We meet at the fountain in the courtyard. Run or bike your way there as a warmup. You will love pushing yourself with this high energy, no frills workout. And did we mention smiles and high fives? The smiles are big and shiny and the supply of high fives is endless! In 30 minutes you will laugh, sweat, and smile harder than ever before.
Core Body Boot Camp
Rock your body with us. It’s open to all fitness levels. You have no excuse to not come get fit with us! The workout features boot camp style core body work. Pushups and situps are par for the course. Look forward to some burpees, planks, twists, and lunges. There will probably be some Magic Mikes and Patty Parks to mix things up. Don’t worry if you don’t know how to do some of the exercises. Most exercises we do are demonstrated here, but they are easy to learn on the spot. Expect the proverbial burn and get ready to be sore for days. More importantly, you will meet some awesome, encouraging people. Get those high fives ready!
Yo Yoga!
Want to perfect your lotus pose without wasting a beautiful day? In temperatures of 68 degrees and up, head outside where you can keep up your hatha or vinyasa practice in outdoor sessions. The lawn’s slightly uneven surface creates an extra challenge for your planks and chaturungas. And forget about any flimsy weather excuse; in the event of inclement weather, classes simply move indoors. Open level classes are vinyasa classes that work with all skill levels. Students are given options to either progress into more advanced expressions of the poses, or to stay where they feel comfortable. While I strongly recommend that absolute beginners start with a few Basics classes before coming into the Open level, these classes are open to everyone.
Stretch and Restore
This class is designed to loosen up tight bodies and increase flexibility through deep, long held stretches and poses coupled with Yin and Restorative-style yoga to make your body feel supple, flexible and relaxed. This class is ideal for athletes, suitable for beginners and good for anyone looking to relieve stiff, rigid muscles and joints.
Power Yoga
Power yoga classes are fast-paced, strength-based and maintain a constant flow throughout the course of the class. This challenging class is not recommended for new yogis.
Basics
Basics classes focus on fundamentals and the foundations of yoga poses. These are beginners classes and also great for anyone coming back to yoga after not practicing for a while. Advanced yogis may want to drop in from time to time to check back in with the foundations of their practice. I highly suggest those new to yoga take at least a few of these classes before moving into Open levels.
