The town of Isleboro bought the station for $1200 when it was deactivated in 1934 and put the keeper's house in use as the Sailor's Memorial Museum in 1938. A fog bell similar to the original is on display. In 1987, after many requests, the Coast Guard returned the light to the tower. Located on the southeast side of Islesboro Island at the entrance to Gilkey Harbor. The island is accessible by state ferry from Lincolnville, and the light station is adjacent to the ferry terminal.
