General appearance: Another victim of the 'Eldest Daughter looking like Their Father' curse but she does have Susan's bright eyes and her freckles. Her smile is also exactly like Susan's and that is dangerous for Riley because it means she could get away with basically anything if she wanted to (she doesn't)

Personality: The bubbliest person you'd ever meet. If sunshine and rainbows were a person, than she would be the goddess of them. Genuinely so kind and sweet that some people believe it's an act. But that's just how she is! She's not naive, she's not stupid, but she believes that most people are good at heart and that hard work always pays off!

Special Talents: She has always been into music! Started songwriting at a very young age and that's something she and Riley really bonded over! She learned how to play the piano when she was eleven.

Personal headcanon: Seb would be her godfather, per Susan's request. I do think Riley would agree ... but Stevie used to cry whenever Seb held her and I think Riley took pleasure in that. At least ONE of his girls isn't in love with Seb

Susan hadn't even noticed until Hudson started chanting 'KISS KISS KISS!' from his spot in the corner booth.

She wasn't even supposed to be here right now. But she had been trying to convince Riley to come with her to her family's Christmas dinner because, if they were engaged, then it was just natural that he would come to the dinner with her! But he kept smirking and saying he had plans, which she was sure was just code for 'I don't want to go'.

What plans could he possibly have!? He had no gigs on Christmas! And she was hoping that the girls that he usually slept with all had families to go home to for the holidays.

Now, because she wasn't looking, they were stuck under the mistletoe. Well, not really stuck, they could always walk away. But Hudson's chanting had caused a large majority of the pub to start chanting. And now all eyes were on them and Susan could feel her face go flush with embarrassment.

God ... why her? Why with him? It didn't help that her heart was starting to stutter violently in her chest whenever he was around but now ... a kiss? They had only ever kissed once and that was only because her auntie had been watching and Susan had wanted to make sure they sold the lie.

" ... You don't ... have to kiss me." Susan murmured, looking down at her scuffed Mary Janes. "I can go tell Hudson to stop. He usually listens to me ... usually."

Susan hated how ... a girl came to her mind almost immediately. People usually weren't concerned about her feelings whenever they talked about Riley cheating on her. Usually they laughed in her face, hoping that her boyfriend would finally snap out of whatever spell she had put on him. They wanted him for themselves and ... Susan couldn't blame them. She loved Riley for many reasons but if there was a girl out there who possibly loved him more, it was Erika.

Erika ... she had so many picture with Riley on her page. There was one video on her page that always crushed a bit of Susan's spirit. It circulated on twitter every few months because of Erika reposting it and just how ... cozy they looked. And they were getting even closer now. Erika hadn't stopped bragging about how close they were now. How it was only a matter of time until she was out of the picture.

" ... Riley wouldn't cheat of me." Was all Susan could tell the concerned fan, giving her a weak smile that didn't reach her eyes. "He loves me. And I don't think he'd just ... throw away our relationship for someone else! You guys just don't know him like i do." The words felt weak, even in her own ears. But what else could she do?

She just had to trust Riley ... and she did ... maybe she just needed to talk to Seb some more. He always made her feel better.

Well, she didn't mean it like that. Riley wasn't hers in any meaningful way. Sure, she was marrying him in a few days (was it already a few days? Is that why she was so sweaty?), but he wasn't hers. They were getting this marriage annulled pretty much the very next day and then all Susan would have to do was keep him out of conversation with her aunt until she eventually-

... Anyways, Riley wasn't hers but ... there were moments where the line blurred. Like right now, at this sticky bar. He was sweaty after his gig and his adoring fans were after his attention but where was he? Oh right, drinking a beer with her. Because he 'enjoyed spending time with her'.

"What about me is so interesting? The fact I don't know how to dress to a rock show? Or that I spent most of the gig reviewing terms because I'm getting cold called tomorrow?" Susan laughed, her cheeks slightly pink from just the one beer.

“Babe! I think we’ve been kidnapped! Why can I see the floor?”

“Oh hahaha! You’re so funny.” But not even Riley’s clever jabs could ruin her good mood today.  Susan had spent most of the day cleaning the apartment and also making sure that Andy didn’t get hurt. No one tells you that when you have a baby, one of your main jobs is making sure that it doesn't die from its own clumsiness. Andy was slowly approaching his second birthday and with that meant that he was gaining more use of his limbs than ever. Today while Susan had been mopping the floors, Andy had discovered the wonderful world of dust bunnies. He was about to eat one before Susan stopped him and then he cried about not being able to eat lint essentially.

Susan loved her son truly, and she loved quiet days where she got to spend time with him while Riley went to the studio. She just wished that he would sit still for a few minutes.

Their apartment was basically a shrine to their son and the floors were usually covered in toys or sticky from juice or applesauce. It was the kind of apartment that screamed family and commitment and domestic life. A fate that she had been pretty sure was Riley's worst nightmare and yet he walked through that door every day to greet her so maybe 16 year old Susan had missed something.

Riley finally peaked his head through the door frame. He was in desperate need of a haircut but Susan kind of liked how the ends of his hair curled whenever it got long. He was smiling, which used to be a rare sight and now was an expression she saw on his face constantly whenever he was looking at her or their son.

He paused, his eyes racking over her body and even though they had been together for years, Susan couldn’t help but blush whenever that heated gaze washed over her. “New dress?”

“New … ish?” Susan laughed sheepishly, turning her attention back to the stove. She was trying to make chocolate chip cookies and wasn’t at all surprised when Riley’s arms wrapped themselves around her waist. He pulled her back against him, her face now buried into the crook of her neck, and Susan couldn’t help the giggle that left her lips. “I have worn dresses before!”

“Yup.” He murmured against her skin. “You should keep wearing them.”

“If it was up to you, I probably would wear nothing at all!”

Susan could feel him start to smile before it shifted into a frown. “No. Then people would be able to see you. Fuck that.”

“Oh so you’d lock me in a room then?”

“Maybe.” Riley shrugged and she could tell he was tired by the way he swayed slightly, his grip loosening. He stayed close, obviously being lulled by her warmth. 

Susan sighed as she turned around in his arms to face him. “I bought the dress before Andy. Surprised it even still fits.”

“Well you look …” Riley trailed off. She knew he tried really hard with the compliments and the praise that didn’t just sound like the prelude to dirty talk. When they first started dating, maybe she would have taken his silence as bad but now she knew what he was doing. Settling for a word that fit the jumbled up thoughts in his head. He was a man of action but … Susan appreciated the attempts. “Like an angel.”

Susan paused at that … because he had a point. She was dressed in a white dress, one that had reminded her of Claire Danes’ dress in Romeo + Juliet where she had dressed as an angel. Still, the words made her blush and she couldn’t help but lean up to press a quick kiss to his lips. 

“There’s a reason.” She hummed, giggling at his shut eyes and his frown when she pulled away from their kiss too quickly for his liking. “I have something to ask you.”

“You in this dress with a question to ask?” Now Riley was smirking, a familiar expression that always made her roll her eyes. “I knew this was too good to be true.”

“You’re so funny today.” Susan huffed before schooling her emotions. She had practiced this speech to herself in front of the mirror multiple times so really …  how hard could it be to actually say it to Riley? “ … Riley Nordisk?”

“ … Susan Bones?”

Susan couldn’t help but laugh at that. “We've been dating for five years now and …  I love you with all my heart. I actually think I fell in love with you when I was fourteen, which is crazy to think about because if we remember you at fourteen, you were a complete asshole. But I think my heart will forever belong to you and-”

“Wait. Susan, are-”

“Let me finish please!” She exclaimed, pressing her index finger to his lips. Her heart was beating a mile a minute and if she didn’t say it now, then the words would probably die on her tongue forever. “I … I want to spend the rest of my life with you and I know we already will but I thought …  we could finally make it official? So … will you marry me?” 

It was silent. Too silent. Even when Susan removed her finger from Riley’s lips, he was silent. He was staring down at her and she could see the way his expression shifted from confused to surprised to … well. 

“Su-”

“Before you say anything!” Susan needed to say something to stop the rejection from leaving his lips because she was pretty sure she would start crying once she heard it. She extracted herself from his arms and rushed down to Andy’s room. She picked him up and brought him into the kitchen, holding him up. She had dressed him in mini suspenders and shiny new Nike sneakers. He was probably color coordinated for the first time in his short life. “A-As you can see, I already found us a witness and I think he would be the cutest best man in the world?”

Riley was still staring at her and when he let out a sigh, Susan already knew what he was going to say. Still, he couldn’t seem to frown at the sight of their son. So he was smiling as he approached, small and hesitant, gently tapping against Andy’s new Nikes. “ … He is cute.”

“H-He is.” Susan stuttered, and she felt horrible for crying but she couldn’t help her wobbly lip and her tear filled eyes. “ … You’re g-gonna say no. Aren’t y-you?”

“It’s not … I do want to marry you, it’s just-”

“Liar.”

“I’m not lying!”

“I-I’m gonna be sick.”

“I’m sorry, it’s just-”

“No. I’m actually going to be sick.” Susan put Andy down quickly. The little boy only had a second to steady himself before Susan went rushing to the bathroom. She probably shouldn’t have eaten all those chocolate chips and pickle slices in her stress when she had been cleaning. She was now reaping the consequences of that, puking over a toilet while she cried.

Even after she was done, she sat in the bathroom alone … not wanting to talk or even see Riley for right now. But, he wasn’t giving her much of a choice apparently as he slowly approached the bathroom door with a cup of water in his hand.

“ … I put Andy down in his play pen … do you need this?” He asked in a clumsy way to make sure she was okay.

Susan sighed before she nodded, extending her hand for the cup. But Riley took that as a sign to sit so now here they were, sitting on the bathroom floor together. It was silent between them, a rare occurrence and one Susan didn’t like. 

“ … I’m pregnant again.” Susan whispered, at least enjoying the sound of Riley choking on his spit. 

“But like … wait … how?”

“Please don’t ask stupid questions.”

“It’s a genuine question!”

“A number of locations could be the cause! You and your stupid dick and your dislike of condoms!”

“Hey I don’t remember you ever complaining.”

“Shut up! You don’t want to marry me!” Susan said the words out of instinct before she remembered what had triggered her sick spell in the first place. Her lip started to quiver and her eyes started to well with tears and gods … she hated pregnancy hormones. “Y-You knocked me up! T-Twice! And you still don’t-”

“I never said that.” Riley sighed, obviously sick of her. It made sense why he would be sick of her. He cupped her face in his hands and wiped away the tears, sure, but he was obviously sick of her. “I want to. I promise. It’s just-”

“Is it about the ring I told you I don’t care about? Or the big wedding I already told you I don’t want? Or one hundred other excuses to say that you hate me and you-”

“Jesus, Bones! Are you ever going to let me speak?”

“ … Continue.” Susan whispered, sniffling at his exasperated sigh. 

“I want to be the one to ask you.” Riley shrugged, like it was the simplest answer in the world. “That’s it. You know I …” He trailed off for a second, a red flush spreading up his neck to his cheeks and they might have five years together but Susan knew that confessions like this made him flustered. “I love you. I tell you enough where you should remember.” He murmured, pinching her right cheek and making her nose scrunch.

That was enough to make him smirk.

“I’m gonna ask you. And then I’m giving you the wedding of your dreams.”

“I don’t have-”

“Liar. You have a dream dress. And a dream first song. And a dream venue and all that silly stuff that I know makes your heart happy. I know it all, Susan.” Riley made it all sound so … definitive. So right. He spoke with enough confidence for the both of them. “And I want to give it to you. That’s the only reason I’m saying no. I’m not marrying you in a courthouse or at the ministry. That shit blows.”

Susan sighed, placated for the time but still weary. “ … When then?”

“When you least expect it.”

“I’m not expecting it now!”

“Yes you are. And anyways … you made the mistake of getting pregnant and two kids are expensive so-” 

Susan slapped Riley’s shoulder. She probably should have slapped him harder because instead of wincing in pain, he started to laugh. “It’s your mistake too!”

“Are you calling our kids a mistake?”

“No! I … I …” Susan trailed off because the sound of Riley saying ‘our kids’ was making her head spin with the urge of jumping him right here even though she was still mad at him. “ … Soon?”

Riley hummed, ducking his head down. “Yeah. I’ll give you that. Soon.” He murmured before pressing his lips to hers. And tragically, as it happened every time Riley kissed her, Susan’s head immediately went blank. She’d probably remember tomorrow and be upset yet again that she wasn’t … good enough to be Riley’s wife but for now, she was happy and distracted enough to forget.
