The Groenburgwal in Amsterdam with the view of the Zuiderkerk
A sinkhole has recently developed along the Groenburgwal in the center. Due to the subsidence, the bridge in the Staalstraat, the Staalmeestersbrug, had be closed. It was already known that the quay wall along the water was in poor condition. The municipality recently announced measures to prevent further damage. For example, a parking ban was already in force and heavy freight traffic was no longer allowed on part of the quay.
