Haiii!! I hope this isn't too weird of an ask, but,,,,,,, I saw on your other blog that you also like American Psycho? And books? May I ask what books you like to read????? (I saw Dostoevsky and ?osamu dazai??)
(I find your blog to be really cool btw! ^^ and congrats on graduating!)
dude i am SO glad you asked. i'm entirely abnormal about my favorite books. i've been reading since forever (unfortunately i've lost a lot of my physical copies in tons of moves) and it really is my Thing.
i think my taste comes off as a bit pretentious bc of all the classics and older books i've read but i'm always so excited to talk about them. my touys...
i've talked about this before but my favorite book of all time is slaughterhouse five by kurt vonnegut (also my favorite writer of all time! reading harrison beregeron at 11 changed my brain chemistry and i'll never be the same) but i think american psycho by bret easton ellis, no longer human/flowers of buffoonery by osamu dazai (duh. if you've read nlh i expect to see it in your top books list idc), notes from underground by fyodor dostoevsky, the jungle by upton sinclair (quite traumatizing read for my 10 year old brain when i first read it but it's very good), sophie's world by jostein gaarder, carmilla by sheridan le fanu, and a ton of others i'm absolutely forgetting. i've read so much shit dude. i have most of the intros to my favorite books memorized and entire passages out of slaughterhouse five engraved into my brain.
i also read a lot of theory and history. i just got the black jacobins by clr james and orientalism by edward said, but i also have prozac nation by elizabeth wurtzel and the prince by machiavelli (another thing i read too young) !!! i'm saving up to buy more books on international affairs and essays and stuff but those mfs are expensive. and i also prefer physical books. as one does.
one day i'm gonna rebuild the collection i had when i was 13/14 MARK MY WORDS.... i think the only books on my shelves that managed to survive from when i was 12 on are the communist manifesto, first they killed my father, the jungle, slaughterhouse five, red scarf girl, alas babylon, and the metamorphosis. all the rest on my shelves i've had to collect over the past 5-6 years because the world hates to see a literate man.
why did i read so much messed up shit when i was super young? ask my mom she wasn't gonna raise a loser (she did. now all i do is read and write)
